Talk to the guy and explain your situation and point of view. If he makes you happy great. If not I would just pay the guy and tell anyone that would listen my story and recommendation.

I know who you are talking about, and although Darrin did teach him how to finish cues, he does not use a UV finish like Darrin does. He uses a premium auto clear coat, and it does take time to cure properly. IMO his finishes are much better, and you will be very happy with the result when you get your cue back.

It is very unfortunate that you missed your sale, but I have found that many times, it takes much longer to do a refinish, etc than cuemakers think, especially when the cue was made by someone other than themselves. They often run into issues that they did not count on, they have to use more coats of paint, etc (and they have to wait for each one to cure before the next one is applied, etc). All in all, most really good cue guys won't let the cue go until it is perfect, and while that may be a hassle initially, it usually results in something that you will be very happy with.

For quality and speed, Scott Sherbine at Proficient is about the best... he is really set up for "production" refinish work.

I had a Eddie Farris cue that needed refinish and a new wrap installed and both shafts cleaned. It took approx 1 week for me to get it back. I am sure he could have had it finished sooner but I told him I wasnt in a hurry..I called him 4 days into him having the cue for an update, he said he would like to buff the cue a cpl more times and that was fine with me..so in 7 days I got a cue that looked brand new. If I remember corrctly, it cost me 125.00.

I would think it all depends on how busy the cuemaker is, but if he says it will take him a week....I feel he should have it done sometime around there....7-10 days I would think......things can happen and I understand that..

I know your new but this is not proper

You are totally out of line smearing a mans name over a few days.
It was your buyer who is the nit.
You were wrong to commit to sell before the cue was ready.
What if they found a crack during refinish?
Most of all you have posted this in the wrong section as you offer nothing for sale.

I hope that the moderaters see fit to delete as they say they will.
You might want to reconsider this type of posting. I know none of the partys involved. It just is not right...
Might not be the opinion you were looking for but here it is. JMO

Actually I haven't smeared anything. You're an ass. I was looking for an opinion on a subject as to whether or not I should receive a discount on the service because I was promised something I did not receive. I promised times on automobile repairs that were far more complex than this and if they were not met, the customer NEVER paid full price. This was not in an advertisement or even a contract of service. Its just good business to provide someone with compensation for time lost. Plain and simple. I have had things like this happen to me in the past that didn't cost me a sale. I never asked for compensation as I only lost time, not money. I could post this in the test area, but I didn't think i would get a whole lot of views. I'm not going to ask the cuemakers cause I"m pretty sure I know what the answers would be from the majority of them. I'm asking people in the wanted/for sale area because they are CONSUMERS just like me. I wanted an opinion on the subject from people who have delt with this type of situation from the same standpoint I am in. So why don't you just take your big bully attitude and shove it right up your corner pocket.

Quoted so you can not change it.
You are not allowed to post something in the For sale section just because you think it will get more veiws. You have to have something for sale.
Your attitude won't work it ain't worth didilly squat.
Stop sniffing exhaust fumes.
Learn some manners and the rules.

As far as a discount...I dont feel you should...I wouldnt expect one myself. But if you feel you deserve a discount, I would talk to who you are dealing with..Asking for our opinions really doesnt matter...other than making you feel good

I feel you should have had the cue finished first.....then sold it....but thats just me....

I don't care if i can change it or not, I said what i wanted to say and you blew it out of proportion, i didn't metnion names, and i gave three clues (if you want to call them that) that were dexcriptive of two particular cuemakers repair men whatever, those were that i was in chicagoland and the cuemaker worked in the omega shop. the other was that darrin hill taught one of the two how to do the finish. I edited the original becuause I was misinformed of the finish process the one guy uses and removed it. The rest is original, so i'm not sure my attitude is the one that needs to be adjusted, maybe you should stop looking for fights on azbilliards and get a life yourself. I was simply looking for a consenses as to how i should address the situation... bite me.

Dude,
This is not the right spot for you sad crying story.
This should be either deleted or moved...
Are you selling anything?

I confess, it was me!

Hi,

I am the guy who refinished Joe's cue and it was brought to me by a middleman who is 67 years old. He did not give me a urgent time frame. Joe has every right to be mad because he lost his cue sale and I totally thinks he was right to have a expectation of a deadline when he was promised one.

Joe (Jbravo) and I have talked and I gave him the refinish job for free. This Full Splice Darrin Hill with veneers and nice rings came out perfect as I just buffed it today. It looks like a jewel with 3 coats of concept and I am sure Joe will be very happy when all is said and done.

Bamacues is right, refinishing sometimes requires more attention and time than one thinks. On this job after flat sanding very carefully as to not remove Darrin's signature, I resealed with epoxy to have a new sanding surface to make sure I was getting an absolute flat surface. Usually I wait 24 hrs. before I flat sand the epoxy seal coat and prep for the booth. In this case, it was a very humid day and cue felt slightly tacky so I let it go another 24 hours because I did not want to sand prematurely and gum up the works. That was Friday and 24 hrs. turned into the weekend.

On Monday I prepped and sprayed the cue. After spraying the cue I always wait 48 hours before I wet sand and buff. As cue makers know, when performing a procedure you never want to rush your work or take short cuts as you always pay the price later.

As for Darrin Hill, this summer he has taken a few much deserved vacations with Sherry and his daughter and I am sure that Joe called during one of those times.

The lesson to be learned here is the fact that we are living in a small information technology world and if you screw up people are going to talk and your reputation is as only good as your last job completed.

Joe and I have spoke and I apologized about the missed communications and he and I are friends. It is only through adversity that you can see one's true character. Being in business supplying a product or service is not about making money, it is about making long turn relationships and expanding your brand. When you do that you don't have to worry about the money.

I am sure that Joe will continue to use my cue repair service in the future and I am also sure I will get much more than $ 100.00 worth of repeat business from the few hours I spent refinishing Joe's cue.

Much thanks to Mr. H as he saw the post and emailed me. He also PMed Joe to give him some details that were missing.
