Its a cool cue. I think that's micarta inlay and points. I was going to take the cue to Tad and have him tell me all about it, but then I learned that the "Fred Whalen" engraved in the joint was done by Schrager and pussed out, thinking it might piss Tad off (he is not big on others meddling with his sticks).

I really wish someone would post a wrapless TAD. The closest I (think) I've seen is Oscar's TAD sneaky, if that even happened...I think it did...hmm.

I especially love the very last one posted, with the white and green wrap - it looks like a player's cue with that linen wrap, but one of the most beautiful player's cues of all time - I mean there is so much difference in between that cue and the other one with the ivory handle - that piece must have a lot higher collector's value, but as a pool player, I would appreciate the one with the (hopefully) Cortland more.

the linen wrap cue is an ivory point.
the ebony forearm cue has a micarta handle and holly points.
so the linen wrap is worth at least double the ebony forearm.
should have mentioned the material in my post but . . . was very tired when i posted
ebony forearms are more rare though . . .
would like to find a 28 ivory point, ebony forearm, linen wrap!
now that's a beautiful cue!

As for these two particular cues: I have ever heard of a micarta handle cue yet, but I would love to have cues with micarta in them - micarta joint, ferrules, mostly. I have read so much good about how it feels that I can only wonder what they are when used for a handle.

I just emailed pics of a pretty nice Tad to David (poolkiller) to post here for me, I have had this cue for a while, I dont think pics of it have ever been taken(far as I know) its a newer Tad. Sadly the butt cap cracked one one side about a year ago, I just took it out and there is a hairline crack on the other side now. Its going to have to be replaced. It is because of the dry air in Vegas-

I saw Mr. Tad at the BCA trade show yesterday, I didnt say anything to him, he was sitting in his chair sleeping, he looked the same as he did 2 years ago-perhaps a little lighter, maybe 10 pounds. I have never met him, I think Fred was sitting next to him.
I played with a plane jane Tad for about 5 years, I used it so much I wore the finish off of it. I had Jerry franklin repaint it,I told Jerry to save the wrap no matter what, I love Tad wraps and mine was well used and felt great, Jerry couldnt promise me he could save it, I said "well save it anyways!" and left. A couple weeks later I went to fetch my cue, Jerry saved the wrap, Jerry was at the time IMO the best cue painter in the biz(lot less people back then) it was(still is perfect). I was thrilled, Shortly there after Jerry passed away-I retired the cue in his honor. I still hit balls with it from time to time, It takes me no time to adjust to it as I might have played more pool with that cue than any other cue I ever owned. It is part of my permant collection of cues.

Well, back on topic, here is probably The Tad of all Tads I have seen during my short life.
I would recommend you taking a close look at the last picture showing the whole cue, I believe that the intricacy of the butt sleeve and the overall flow of the cue can be seen the best on that picture.
