I always liked green & still do but I'm growing fond to the tournament blue. It just brighten's up the table.
As far as the other colors,You can have them.

The real beauty of tournament blue is no ball color blends with it... unlike green cloth.

Also, some tables look best with a specific color cloth.

Green and Gold Crowns go together well.

Tournament blue and Diamonds also go together well.

IMO, green cloth does not go well on a Diamond... particularly on a Pro Am.

I remember, maybe a little over a year ago this same topic came up. I seem to recall the overwhelming concensus was green. As a matter of fact, I believe the Tournament Blue color was cursed and spat upon. Seems to have taken a turn towards the blue. Of course, the voting is still early...so it aint over yet.

I've always liked the blue.

I voted tourny blue, but that is not what on my table. I have wine. The wife wanted something that complemented the table.

A few years ago I would have said it must be green. But the Tournament Blue has since become the "other" traditional color. Either one for commercial use or serious play. For recreational home tables I understand why people may choose a more unusual color.

So I voted for green just to give it a bump in the poll since blue was in the lead. But I currently have T-Blue on my GC4.

I noticed that you called it "tournament blue" and yes I do realise now adays that since 2003+ most tournaments are using Blue cloth, specially the major/big ones, like Derby/US Open/ Masters/ World champion....but really whats the reason behind this, and why did this start since 2003...

I know some old tournys used blue cloth too, but lets be honest, the sand and US open and master and derby city, and others have always been using Green cloth in the 90's, and in my opinion it is really better for me as a viewer, I love the little darker green, its really nice cloth from simonis, why not bring green back to the major/big tournaments?

Green

Anything other than green is, well, other than green and makes the world as screwed up as it is. So know this, all you who cover your tables in anything other than green are to blame for all the problems in the world. ALL the problems in the world. I hope you are happy.

I had green and tourney blue and currently have olive because it matches my Connelly well.

Having Simonis in the first place is a step in the right direction. However, red cloth should really be banned. Walking into any pool hall and seeing red cloth lets me know the owner doesn't know anything about pool.

One bad thing about the different colors is what's available for chalk colors. If you don't have standard green or tournament blue, then chalk marks tend to stand out real well on the cloth. Olive cloth is a bear to match and Masters doesn't have any colors that comes close.

I voted tournament blue. I think that color still looks the sharpest on a table.

I had a friend of mine tell me that I shouldnt waste my money on Simonis and that I should get Mercury ultra , I said I like playin on Simonis thats what i have on my home table and I'm happy with it . Some people are only happy with what they like , I never tell anyone that they should have this or that on there table .

Green all the way. I'm very old school in what I like, and I'm used to green.

Can't stand the blue, actually. Too bright for my eyes, and the color looks like it belongs on a turbo charged, rice burnin' "fast and the furious" type car. LOL!!! ;)

sounds like someone needs a mancave.

I was just happy to have her not mind converting the dining room into a pool room. I told my wife we are going to recover the table at the 3 year mark, hopefully she'll warm up to blue by then.

Curious so far as to how this poll is going. When i think of pool i think green. Same as golf.
Most rooms still use green. It seems that Diamond is the ones pushing the blue so they can be different then Brunswick or any other billiard co.
Blue for home use just doesn't work well for most homes IMHO.

There is a reason

I noticed that you called it "tournament blue" and yes I do realise now adays that since 2003+ most tournaments are using Blue cloth, specially the major/big ones, like Derby/US Open/ Masters/ World champion....but really whats the reason behind this, and why did this start since 2003...

A study was done around 2004 to determine on what color, objects are easiest for the eye to see in detail. What color is your computer monitor, for example? This shade of Light Blue was found to be that color. Greg Sullivan, changed the DCC tables color, around 06 and if you noticed around that same time, the Tennis courts were changed from green to blue, as well.
This transition in the standard cloth color, has been one of the few times, the pool world has led the way in anything, that applied to the larger real world, too!
