Skids During Practice

I also think a cause is the cb going from slide to roll, as it touches the ob, Mr . Riddick.

That's just stun, but it is true that stun shots have the most throw.

The only thing I can think of is that, even with a clean cb, you still have the chalk mark from hitting the cb. I'm sure there are distances at which skids are more likely (i.e. at multiples of the circumference of the ball edit: half the circumference*).

It happens to everyone. There is nothin you can do about a skid period even if you clean the cue ball. Brand new sets skid too. Cyclops though seems to skid more.

The shot in my personal experience that skids with very high frequency is a pocket speed speed hit, center top spin only, and a very full hit. When I have this angle, I try my best to change something. If I MUST hit it with that speed and spin, then I will actually aim for a thinner hit to attempt to compensate for the skid.

YMMV:)

Nowadays I just use Taom Chalk:p
Clean balls + Taom is practically recipe for no skids.
Running now around 100 almost daily(tight pockets) on 14.1 because one can roll ball slowly without fear of"kicks"

No Ad. Just a fact. I had my piece stolen and I ordered more and played with normal chalk for a while and I noticed even "clean hits" were many times little heavy looking when compared playing with Taom chalk.

I would like to see Dr. Dave to test that chalk..

I always push the ball in and continue. I have cyclop also(play about 50% of the time with them) and have not had any more skids with them.

Agreed.

Actually, there are some things you can do. You can wipe chalk marks off the CB every chance you get (for example, before each break, and with every ball in hand). That can eliminate many skids. You can also use more speed (for example going across the table instead of holding the ball) when possible, which will limit throw and skid. You can also use gearing outside english when possible, which will totally eliminate any possible throw or skid. You can also clean and polish balls with appropriate products because some cleaners and waxes create more throw than others.

Regards,
Dave

I'm done testing chalks for a while. Although, anyone can easily test any chalk on their own using the simple procedures documented in the video and article on the chalk comparison resource page.

Happy testing,
Dave

How do you guys handle skids
