Ok, I have read through this entire thread and I can see both sides of the story. I have one little thing to throw in here and I am not 100% sure if it applies.
Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland held a total of 4 pool schools in Dallas, Tx earlier this year. While signing people up for the school I found that Randy G had signed up. I was nervous of this because I didn't want a BCA Master Instructor coming to our pool school and at every turn disagreeing with the way Johnny or Earl taught. I decided to call Randy and ask "why are you tsaking this Class? are you going to disrupt the guys trying to explaing how just because they have won world championships does not mean they can teach?" Randy understood my concern and told me that NO WAY did he intend that and that he was never too old to learn something, especially from the caliber of players we are talking about.
I have never heard anything but good things about Randy, personally or as a professional Instructor. So I said to myself ok we shall see.
Randy was nothing but a gentleman the whole time and took part in the class. Once the class was over Randy hung around a little and once everyone was gone he spoke to Johnny about a couple of things he taught that day and showed him a different way to teach the same thing. Johnny came up to me after and said "Hey T-Wheels look at this" he showed me what randy had shown him and said "Man that really works, I like this way, it explains better". We know that Randy has more chance of falling pregnant than he does of beating Archer in a race to 11 but Johnny still uses the technic that Randy showed him. What does this tell you? It told me that Johnny could show Randy some of the inner workings of how a multi time world champ things in a game of pool and Randy could show a way to teach it. I believe that both parts are invaluable in their own way.
