Sloppy and incompetent work by Jim Pierce, poor customer service

16 days and counting. No check. I think it is safe to assume that I've been screwed over once more by Jim Pierce. What a guy.

In retrospect, when I look at that email that he sent me, and the message that got him banned, it pretty much sums up his character.

Hope everyone has better luck with him than I did.

Must be shipped via same method my titlist blank is from Eric Crisp....

Maybe it's in Nepal?

Good luck... The list of cuemakers I'll deal with anymore is a very short list...

Hey would you guys tear this thread down it appears that oher azers will attack anybody.

if MODS get into this thread you'll need to exit quickly so the door doesn't hit you in the azz

to the community:

keep it civil when interacting with this username, we don't want this thread deleted which may be his intent

How is Doug supposed to know if Jim is really going to send a check? I'm not saying the bashing is right, but I still can't grasp how the majority continue to bash Doug and praise Jim!?!

Just classic "blame the victim" mentality. Sad. Good luck resolving this, also to Roscoe.

honestly

okay someone help me here what happens to the value of our cues( pierce's owned) if this is not a resolvable situation. I am asking this because some of us buy an sell n some of us buy an play w a while and sell and buy the next hot item. regardless of opinions or views right and wrong what will this portray our present cue buying values as. i am beginning to wonder just how many else may have been screwed by this. i wonder who wins here w and hows it goin to affect us.

I can sympathize with you. However, when I got no help/recovery from Jim Pierce, what was I supposed to do? You would think to protect his reputation, Jim would try and make this right. In the end, I will probably lose about $1k of my investment. All I asked of Jim was to share some of my loss, and I would call it a day.

For me this is much more about principal, then it is about money. Heck, I've played $500 hands of blackjack in Vegas, lost and thought nothing of it. I'm sorry that many might feel that they have lost value on their Jim Pierce cues. However, I'm sure there are others that appreciate a "review", whether it is possitive or negative. Since starting this thread, I've had several people tell me of bad dealing with Jim. I've also seen a many who feel Jim Pierce can do no wrong.

If you think about it, Lexus supposedly has an excellent record for well built and low mantainance cars, but they will undoubtedly produce a lemon once and awhile. It's how a company, or in this case a person, deals with the lemon, is what determines their reputation as a company. Pierce screwed up my cue, no big deal, stuff happens....just make it right, or at least try to.

Wow.

I really hate threads like this. It quickly devolves into an attack of anyone who adds to them. The only reason I am responding to this thread at all is to add my support for Jim. I personally have never had an issue dealing with Jim weather the deal originated with him directly, or started through a dealer. I'm not going to claim that Jim is the greatest cue maker of all time and I'm not going to say things just to pump up any hype.

All I'm saying is that I haven't had any trouble in dealing with Jim, I would not hesitate to deal with him again and I do consider him to be a good friend.

Thank You.

Fair enough. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Since you're good friends with Jim, next time you talk can you tell him to send me the money he promised me. ....Just kidding. I guess some get great service and some don't.

Doug

I had dealings with Jim, and whatever happend and if I had a problem Jim took care of any issue that I will say. I know some in this thread that post and I can see thier point. But I can say this if I did have a issue , HE DID TAKE CARE OF ME ,,and he did make up for anything if it took him a little longer to get something done But it was done right , certainly no hack work . Like I was told I was given another cue from him after I didnt want the way the first veneers came out, and all it was , was I had two long and two short points, and I wanted a basic 4 point 4 veneer which was partly my fault because talking on the phone in the middle of the night with 3 hour time difference ordering a cue in the early morning hours or late here. So when the cue was recieved when he said it would be at the 2011 SBE ,,I seen the cue but it wasnt the way I wanted it. But I was gonna take it because like I said I ordered it in middle of the night cause I couldnt sleep cause I have probelms sleeping and Jim the cue Builder was busting his a$$ from working all day and night like he does. But anyhow back to the subject. He didnt say oh well heres your cue..he said what is there a problem ? And I told him about the veneers. Well he was so worried about me being happy he built me another cue..WE ended up going a different way and I left it up to him,,,he built a southwest style..and sent it to me,,I had no idea what was comeing...well after it was done it was sent to me and he told me if I didnt like it send it back or play with it for a while and see what I thought...It played great but it wasnt what I pictured when I ordered my first cue and I really wanted a cue like the first cue. So I called him up and was gonna get a cue made like the first cue but to every way I wanted it. Well he gave me no issues..or acted unproffesional in any way. He said dont worry bout it send me the cue and write down all you want this time and I will build you exactly the way you want it. And he did I had to go on a wait list till he caught up on orders,,but he made that 3rd cue to the exact what I wanted it. Not to mention he threw in extra's on the cue also and never charged me a dime more. I even hung out with Jim and friends out in Vegas Nationals last year besides the SBE last year and he is one of the best guys you ever wanted to meet inperson. The thing about Jim that will forever stick in my head and that I know, is you give him respect and he will respect you. I ordered alot of custom cues and if that happends and even if it aint the customers fault ,,you eat it,,they send it to you and thats what you got. Jims the one that insisted to me on building me what exactly I wanted, but the only thing wrong with Jim is he is busy. And if anyone plays with his cues and isnt already hooked on anything else will make it thier main player because his cues are players, and with the bowling alley shafts I think they play great , I never had a problem I didnt yell or blame Jim for anything that he didnt fix on his own He wanted me 100% happy....Im sure if hes is done right he will do right by anyone else. This is why this is still going on . I hope this soon comes to a emd for both parties......>>ED

It's easy to keep spouting your version of the truth, when Jim is unable to post a response.

The short story is you and Jim had an agreement.

You broke that agreement, wanting more money and continuing to make posts to harm his livelihood.

The answer is NO.

The end.

What are you talking about? Yes, Jim and I had an agreement: he pays me to compensate me for his screw up, I send him back his shaft, and we are done. Comprende? How is this difficult for you to understand? Where did I break the agreement? I'm stuck with a chopped up cue and I'm the one that broke an agreement?

Maybe if Jim did not get banned for inappropriate behavior, he could respond. He can start by sending me what he promised. If his livelihood is harmed, it's because of his own doing.

I met Jim Pierce once and he seemed like a cool kinda guy. I think he cares about people and cues, I got that vibe from him. Hard to explain just could tell he was a real dude.

However, after seeing this junk that he coulda worked out for you for cost it's just ugly. This is plain old vindictive and that's the worst type of business. I put Jim Pierce with the rest of the cuemakers I will never support based solely on this incident. I am a businessman and I know if I can make it right, its always best to do so even if begrudgingly so.

Mikey,

I agree totally with everything you posted.

I also liked Jim on the phone. He was personable, friendly, helpful, etc... He at first apologized for the multiple delays. But the minute I told him about goofs he made with this cue, he dropped me like a hot potato. When he finally did agree to compensate me for the damage, he was sweet as could be on the phone. He can be super nice, or send me the kind of emails or posts that would make a sailor blush.

As far as working it out, all of this could have been avoided had he at least communicated with me. All I am asking for is a modest compensation to help defray my loss. Now he is going back on his word. Frankly, if I was in Jim's shoes, I would have paid Mike Wheeler out of my own pocket to replace the cue in its entirety.

Thanks again for the post.

Kudos!!! Arrowcrusher...I recently got a matched set from Jim...the cues were beautiful and played lights out...however I could feel one of the metal rings, just barely...I called him and kinda joked that he was using JW rings now:) He immediately was bothered...stating repeatedly that you should NEVER be able to feel the rings...Especially on a brand new cue! He wanted me to send it back immediately but I refused stating I did not have anything else to play with...his solution?? He built me a brand new player cue for me to use while he refinished the ringwork...and you guessed it, NO CHARGES!!! IMHO you cant go wrong in dealing with Jim...if you are honest with him and not an AZ Hole you will be more than pleased!!!

Great story Jon. And that is why I believe that there are always 3 sides.
Right from the start I never thought we were getting the entire set of facts.

OK, you want to drag a persons name thru the mud, what can you really expect in return.

This thread has done nothing for me except to reinforce that I would easily do business with Jim in the future.

I would say that the majority of cue makers that post here read these threads whether they comment or not.
I would also think that any cue maker in his right mind would refuse to deal with this guy in the future.

I have no idea as to why you'd want to make a problem like this public.

Really? I guy screws up my cue and does nothing to fix the problem. Makes promises that he does not keep. I feel very justified to start this thread.

As far as doing business with other cuemakers, I've done plenty, with excellent results.

I've read many of your posts on az before and they are almost always contentious....I think you like to stir up trouble. JMO
