i'm on another forum looking for a person whos information i have missplaced, and i see a thread about one of my cues and you know. after i read the thread i am amazed this qbuilder is the smartest man alive. he is telling everyone how my cues cannot exist because the pin is so wrong, the walls of the shaft cannot take the pressure because they are too thin. the pin will not last, and i make my shafts too fat. what is amazing about this is, the big mouth has never held one of my cues, he has never hit a ball with one of my cues, has never ask me about how i put these cues together, he has never talked to any of the 227 people playing with one of my cues. so i must assume hes able to know everything about everything because hes the smartest man alive. i think we would all be a lot better off, if you dont know what your talking about, just keep your mouth shut. i'm chuck starkey
 
Send him one, crow is best served warm. Don't sweat what one person says. As long as you're confident that your product is durable and you enjoyed the time spent building it, you can't please everyone.

I got a very nice cue from Chuck some months back, and the tight fit at the joint blew me away. After playing with this cue awhile, I stated that it is the closest to a one piece hit I ever felt in a two piece cue. I still feel the same way. I like this cue a lot. I think Chuck has come up with an innovation in cuemaking that will most definitely be copied.

"Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery." Ironic will be the day when the same guy that knocked Chuck begins to copy his joint. Don't laugh, it could happen. I'll bet the thought has crossed his mind already, like "How did he do that?"
 
I stand by what I said about the double refund cue 100% I will buy one of these cues as soon as I'm back on my feet. Chucks cue I played with was awesome, great finish and great hit in a cue that has been shipped and played with for about a year I guess. The wood pin ain't likely to ever break when screwed together unless a drunk trys pole vaulting with it.

Can someone post a picture or a description of how the joint is different, or is it a trade secret?

I have seen two shafts (not yours, chuck) split because drilling out for the very big pin left too little wood near the joint. At least I think that's why they split. I thought that was why billiard cues are often made with the pin in the shaft and threading into the much thicker butt. I'm not a cuemaker or an expert of any kind and I mean no disrespect to anyone.
 
I think I met this same guy recently. He was telling me all about how much pressure a commercial do it yourself car wash should have..... no less that 100 psi, he said, anything less sucks... meanwhile the real answer is closer to 1,000 psi!

I have described the hit on these as " like a one piece", "quiet" meaning there is none of the "stuff" you get back from a metal pinned cue, and most often, "sweet". Have a good bottle of red Chuck and fire off a note to him .... :D
 
try to break it

there have been times when someone would see my wood pin cue and start talking about how easy that pin would break, so i started carring one around in my cue case. i just hand a pin to the loudmouth and tell him to go ahead and snap it in half. i have yet to find anyone that can break one. the white stuff on the pin is cue wax. thanks again chuck

You don't get hit by the tomatoes until you stand up buddy. There is a tomatoe thrower in every croud. They usually have never tried to anything difficult because they are afraid to fail. The best learning process there is.

I did not see a qbuilder on the member list but there is still hope of a mistaken identity.

Eric's username on EPT is also qbilder without the "u".
