I feel a nostalgia for a Ginacue I used to own made with 12 Snake wood points and Ivory butterflies over ebony nose.

Snake wood is a such a gorgeous wood.

Please show your cues .....
BTW here is a question:
How come Sw don't use snake wood, imagine ebony nose with snake wood points and a single red veneer..............sweet :)

I just acquired Brandon Ashcraft's Ebony forearm with highly figured Snakewood points 3 high 3 low bl,wh,bl,wh veneered Ariel Carmelli. The last time I played with a Carmelli before this one was about 8 years ago,and I personally thought it was a little whippy.I have heard Carmelli has come a long way in his work and he has. This cue is worlds apart from that one.Brandon told me himself that this is the best playing cue he has ever owned and I beleive it;the cue plays jam up(similar to a SW but a little softer hit not less stiff just a softer feel).I am going to post pictures here and sell it in a day or two.Be looking for it if you are looking for a Snakewood cue, this one is a player.I will be open to trades.

Vass, to answer your question, snakewood is very unstable and a lot of cuemakers shy away from it for that reason. Larger pieces of it have a tendency to crack. One trick to help prevent that is to laminate, like you see done in Ginas and this Gilbert. That also allows for you to see all end grain (the good stuff).

That's the only pic I have of the snakewood cue, except a few "in-progress" pictures. A buddy of mine bought it and it is here in Chattanooga. Maybe the next time you come down for a tourney at Charlie's or Diamonds, we can arrange for him to bring it out. In person, that cues really blows you away!!

The top cue "pink ivory butterfly" is in a collection, as is the other middle cue, a box style cue with solid ivory butt sleeve. The bottom cue with ivory points is listed on our site.

Snakewood

Here are my two snakewood and ebony cues. (Ginacue and Josswest)

When Shannon has his next tournament at Diamonds I will try to make it down. I will let you know beforehand so you might be able to contact him. I would love to see this cue, it looks amazing.

With any luck I may have my new Gilbert Titlist by then. I talked to him a week or so ago and he said I was looking toward the beginning to middle of June.

Thanks,
D
