I use this tip exclusively (moved from Morri about 3 years ago) and install them myself [using a Hightower lathe]. Purd is correct, hard to install. I've probably lost 1/4 of them to my lousy install ability. But they're cheaper than Mooris (M=$10 per, and Sniper = $8.45 per), and IMO they play much more consistently over the life of the tip. Once, I installed one upside down for giggles, and suprisingly, had no problems at all.

I'm thinking about trying this tip too, but you guys are scaring the hell out of me with these warnings, lol. Could anyone get a little more specific on the difficulties involved in installing a Sniper tip? I've been installing my own tips for years, but at $15-$18 a pop I'll let someone else do it if it's that easy to screw up. Thanks.

I have been using Snipers for a few years now and find them to be more consistent than Moori's as someone stated earlier on this thread. Hit is firm enough to be accurate but soft enough to be able to put extreme amounts of english when neccessary. I know Shawn Putnam and many other pros use them as well.

I've been using one for about 2 years and love it. When you apply it, don't be afraid to cut it down just a little bit. They will mushroom just a bit.

Since this is a thread about Sniper Tips I thought I would just let you guys know that Tiger has donated a box (12) of Sniper tips for the raffle. I'm trying to decide the best way to disperse them.... What do you guys think?

All 12 to one winner
6 to two winners
3 to four winners
2 to six winners
1 to 12 winners

Corey told me to do as I see fit. The retail value on the pack of 12 is a little over $200.... I'm just curious what you guys think would be a good way to do this for the raffle?

Thanks

Spread them out to a few people so that mostly everyone who enters the raffle will get a little something. ;) Two tips each to six winners would be nice.

I use a custom made tip made by a local guy here in Japan. He doesn't keep them in shops, so unless he's up to date, it can be hard to get his tips. When I can't get one, I use Snipers, and have been pleased. Like everyone says though, they're a real pain to install. I install them by hand, but I've found that your blade needs to be EXTREMELY sharp. More than a typical exacto blade. And the sides won't burnish like a typical tip in a short period of time. A guy I know is always wiping the grease off his nose and applying it to the sides of his Sniper. He swears by it!!!

Though I don't recommend it, I have also heard of using "Nose-Oil" for use as a shaft sealer.

I've been playing with a Sniper for about 3 months now and have gotten to like it very much after previously playing with Mooris, which I also liked.

The Sniper has not mushroomed at all, takes and holds chalk well and I "think" I can out more spin on the ball than with the Moori. Has got a different feeling hit which took me a little time to get used to.

Sniper and Moori

I can't stand the Moori tips, I have used soft, medium, and hard. I don't think they keep their shape as well as sniper, and I think the sniper is much more consistent through the life of the tip. Hell it was 6 months before I even needed to reshape my sniper, and I play ever day! I won't go to another tip, I love sniper.

Thanks for all advice!!

thanks for all the input i hope to have my tip on by this weekend and try it out..not expecting anything but good...this a great forum....thanks again ..
