I don't know if its going to happen since my partner (the guy with all the money) is sort of on the fence but we were considering opening a small pool room here in rural Nebraska where I am now living.

Something like 6-10 tables, old time pool hall feel, beer etc. There is an amazingly large league interest here for a town of less than 10'000.

I am pitching my partner on the benefits of Diamond Smart Tables since everyone around here has Valleys, all Valleys and only Valley's.

So I call Diamond and get a sales rep and ask about the 'no excuse program' which i guess is their financing arm. They advertise tables for $4.00 a day, etc.

So the rep is about as excited as a dead carp to speak with me. Spends much of his time telling me how much pool rooms are struggling and then after I ask one question about leveling drones on and on about table specs like a machine. It was a painful experience... my cellphone cutout after like 20 wasted minutes and I didn't bother calling back.

If we end up doing this I still want some Diamonds but I hope I get a better rep next time.

locally we have vending companies that will give us diamond tables and out of 1.25 a game they get around 40-50 cents but they have no over head in the tables so....... a small piece of something to get your feet wet is better than a big chuck of nothing. ad you wont have to invest. its atleast worth looking into, if you make money at the vendors tables then you will forsure make even more off your own tables when you can afford to buy them outright.

Id look into it.

Good luck

Wow, I had nothing but a great experience when I ordered my Pro from them. I have been out of touch with the company for a few years but that does not sound like the Diamond reps I had dealt with.

And going with Diamonds is IMHO is a very smart move.

Maybe I caught him on a bad day... maybe i took it wrong. All things are possible.

He just didn't seem excited about it... maybe he thought i was a tire kicker. I'm sure they gotten many calls from pool hall dreamers.

I still love me some Diamond tables.

Who did you talk with? I always deal with Paul or Brian. Paul is the real deal and is the better on to talk with. It is worth calling back and talking with him IMO. Sometimes Brian really seems wound up. :D One of the pool rooms here did the same deal you are talking about and things worked out great for him. He bought 8 Bar Boxes and 3, 9 footers. We have another pool room that just bought 10 Valley Bar tables and every one that plays on them complains about them being so slow. The Diamond's are the way to go. That is what most tournaments are played on now days anyway. Here it is 50 cents a game after 7 PM. Free pool 4 to 7 happy Hr and the owner tells me its the best thing he has ever done. I wish you the best of luck

I really don't understand why you wopuld go public with your negativity after one initial phone conversation. Is your relationship with your potential suppliers not important? I've always found mine to be.

I don't feel like I am being particularly negative. I still swear by Diamond tables and stated i will gladly do business with them.

For what it's worth, I don't think you were being negative either. Perhaps this is an opportunity for Diamond to improve on their customer service. It took me a couple of calls before I was able to order my ball polisher. But to some, saying anything that isn't praise about Diamond will get a reaction like you just slapped their grandmother. Some people are very protective of their friends and of their favored brands.

I could have bought a Diamond table for my home, I made a few phone calls myself to Diamond about a Diamond Pro and they were helpful and polite to me but ultimately I chose a much more expensive Brunswick table and I could not be more pleased with my choice. Just remember you have a choice and companies that forget that the consumer has a choice are often short lived.

Maybe this is why your town still has Valley tables.
A lack of respect or enthusiasm from an over the phone sale would turn me in the other direction ;)

I ve had both experiences talking with them one time I called and they were acting like they were doing me a favor being in business and they didn't care if i bought anything or not...and another time they were very helpful and attentive to my needs...bottom line they are the best period so if the best is what you want you just have to call more than once til you get the right person in sales or service..JMO

Brian at Diamond has always been so great to talk about any orders and explaining all the details/specs. Very helpful and treated me very well. I really never expected him to be really excited.

Maybe you expected too much?

You can call and talk with me if you'd like, I'll relay what we talk about to the sales people at Diamond,

Glen 702-927-5689 but I can pretty much answer any questions you'd be wanting to know the answers about:D

I don't remember the guy I spoke with when I got pricing on my Diamond light, but he was great to deal with.

Better luck next time you call.

A good salesman will respect a tire kicker and realize that anyone can be a potential customer....
