The way I look at it is live by the sword and die by the sword. This tarnishes my image of a few of the players but not so much that I am ready to condemn them for all time.
Sorry but all of these guys came from a world of gambling, on pool, cards, horses, etc...a lot of the money in the pool room came from criminals who had plenty of money to spend on backing players.
In their minds they probably didn't think that they were doing much wrong, just business as usual. Furthermore they probably all thought that only a few of them would get unlucky enough to pull the short straw and have to dump to Mike since only three people had to play him.
But at the end of the day if you are going to do this on a nationally televised program when you know that it will live forever then you have to live with it when it does live forever. Personally I'd like to see the guys involved just admit it and talk about it and move past it.
I just wonder if any of them were scared of the consequences. I mean we all know the stories and rumors of mob involvement in Vegas casinos. Was it all corporate by the 90s with the mob gone? No fear at all of violent reaction? I know Jay said that the sports book only ended up 40k loser on it but still, in the movies people get whacked for far less.
As for sweeping it under the rug. I do agree that if it's out there then it's part of the history of our sport. We have to face the ugly parts as well. For all we know all these guys went on to give back to the sport in ways that maybe they would not have if they didn't carry this with them.

You guys are nuts giving SS bad rep. Why not give Scott Lee bad rep for not uploading it? I mean come on, that's ludicrous. There are tons of DVD bootleggers selling this DVD for $5 if you all want it so bad. And no, don't pm me for a source.

This has been well known about for as long as I can remember, I wonder why a big deal is being made about it now?
This has been a recurring topic since AZ Forums started, just like best tip, shaft, etc. Every year or so a new thread is made on it. Probably before AZ, it was a recurring topic on the other internet forums, such as Billiards Digest, and the rec.sports.billiards newsgroups. This thread is just the latest incarnation.
