Sorry but I have to ask ---

Okay, my real name is Ralph Race. I actually used this name once! I was in a poolroom in Indianapolis in the 70's, and a guy who I was playing asked me my name. I thought of racing first being in Indy and that's what came out of my mouth. He thought that name was just fine and kept right on playing.

Because it's completely arbitrary.. You didn't have to produce a state-issued identification card to obtain your account, nor would it be reasonable or even possible for an internet forum to enforce such requirements. The best you could hope for is offering a false sense of security to potential buyers in the for-sale section.

Even though this has been hashed out in numerous other threads, I will reiterate that it's completely reasonable for a user to wish anonymity for perfectly good reasons.. one of which is my desire to have my postings on this forum inaccessible by coworkers or others with whom I prefer not to share my personal life.
 
But, I Have A Friend That Has A Real Name.... imo

I didn't sign up as "John Madden". Have been asked for years (especially at the bank:confused: ) "is that really your name? Are you related to John Madden?". Heh, he is my Dad;)

I'll say that I know two previously banned members who signed up with another identity and have been allowed to post/participate. I asked this same question to the mods and was told they need so called "hard evidence".

Anyone should be able to use nicknames, aliases or real names as desired. There will always be a select few who abuse the priviledge.
