Southwest "alternative cues"

I'm very dissapointed in Indy Q Shops posting on their site of "alternative" cues....They are comparing them to Southwest cues throughout the advertisment even stating "Features Butt And Shaft Tapers That Are Too Close To Close To Even Mention." Also, They compare order times and even % off of Southwest packages. Why is a great custom maker such as Mike Stacey (stated maker of "alternative cues") producing Southwest cue copies.
Ms. Franklin has continued an amazing company after the loss of her husband and a slowed economy. Please let HER make SOUTHWEST cues and sell YOUR OWN designs.
Finally....Southwest cues must NOT be overpriced (as stated by Indy Q Shops) if COPIES of their cues are selling at 40-60% of retail price for AUTHENTIC CUES. Their statement reads with reference to Southwest Cues...... " Mine Are Terribly Over Priced In The Billiard Markets Of The World Today."
I am not against Indy Q Shops or Mr. Malott......I am a fan of Southwest Cues and hopefully a friend of Ms. Franklin...Please let Indy Q Shop know what you personally think of this advertisment. Send Email:
$ales@IndyQ.com

It is really sad to think that people will stoop so low tyring to make a buck!!!!!!:frown: I wonder if the cue maker even knows what Mr. Malott is doing, I hope not because respected cue makers should not be involved in such bullshit.

I hope that Laura sues the Jackass, it really makes me sick more and more as I sit here and think about it!!!!!!

Question...I google Southwest cues, and I get a raft of various sites with dealers selling them...both used and new.

Does Southwest have it's own website?

There are so many great playing cues available, where do you draw the line on what cues play like other cues.
IndyQ must be catering to buyers that like that style of marketing.
If I buy a Mike Stacey cue, it's because it's a nice Mike Stacey cue, not because it's like a South West.
There are a lot of cues that resemble South West.
Maybe IndyQ should call it something korny like a "tribute cue".

Roy @ IndyQ sells both REAL Southwest's, and his NEW ALTERNATE FAUX Southwest TYPE Cues, Built by Cuemaker Mike Stacey of Indiana.

IMHO Roy @ IndyQ SPELLS it out in Black & White that the Alternates, are a FAUX Southwest, and not the REAL DEAL!

ALSO the longer this thread goes, the more publicity or advertising IndyQ get.......:idea2:

No they don't need one with a 10 YEAR WAIT.:)

Thanks...I was just hoping to read more about them...how they are constructed, etc. No real need, I guess...because if I ordered one today, odds are I'd be dead by the time it's finished.

Besides...I love my Josey!

Im sure Mike probably knows as Roy gets a lot of his cues direclty from him, or did the last time I was there. Roy is in Indy and Mike lives in Noblesville which is not real far away. Roy has been a SW buyer for years and I often wonder what kind of a deal he and the rest of the SW "dealer's" are getting on cues ever since she raised her prices. Even though they will always have a cult following, their sale's have surely dropped and in the years to come they might not actually have a ten year wait on a cue....who know's. Lot's of cuemaker's have used the Southwest style and just play it off as a Southwest "tribute". Normally you can scan through the wanted/for sale forum and find at least one cue that is a SW tribute. When you think about it, if you take the wide ring off the bottom of most all the Southwest cue's, you are left with a 6 pointer with veneer's and rings. They are a great cue but pretty simple when you break it down. If you think about it, you could call any cue out there with 6 points, veneer's and rings in all 4 locations a SW copy, style or tribute.

Joey you missed the point, the "HIT" was described as "like a Southwest" by a Web Site Called Chalkers. They said their Coker had the HIT of a Southwest!

I also do not think you can MEASURE HIT, I think hit is a Personal Interpretation. Different Wood Product different Hit IMHO!

I have never seen no Hit O Meter. Have you? Or a Scientific way to MEASURE HIT!

Cowboy, Calkers is owned by Martine Bachman who is also know for her poor business practices throughout the billiards community. She has taken people cues for photo's and refused or forgot to return them, she also screwed up the Third Edition of The Blue Book of Cues, that why it was so late, Brad had to take the project away from her and do it with the help of his Mother.

I don't know what you are trying to say throughout this thread concerning INDY Cues, but if you are supporting their actions you are way out of line, and if you are please tell us why

She's changed her name for the third time, probably ducking her creditors. I believe she's in Albuquerque now. Her friend (another former WPBA player) has a poolroom there.

Who gives a fkk?
Two wrongs make one right?
There might not be a hit meter but this is not rocket science.\
Two cues of very different taper cannot hit the same.

Amazing

I will trying and interject some common sense in this thread.

How many people are building a Southwest TYPE, or Southwest Inspired , or Southwest Tribute Cue?

I recall several years ago the web-site CHALKERS DOT COM listed a Coker Cue and comparing the “Hit” to a Southwest Cue.

Honestly IMHO “HIT” is like HOT SAUCES, what is Hot to other people is MILD to me! I like EXTREME HOT SAUCES!

I honestly do not think there is any real way to judge “HIT”, as it is like Hot, it is a personal thing.

I think Mr. Malott is just doing some creative writing, but apparently he has had some customers trying out his “New Alternative Cues”, and what they say is below:

BTW you can like Mr. Malott’s Web Site HERE, to View what is being talked about..

JMHO.

"For my Investment the Alternative Cue Value Package Is Great in the billiard world today With Lower Priced Packages Than SouthWest Cues Offer."
Dick M. , Indiana

"I have Played both of these cues and truly believe the playability and value of the new Alternative Cues are fantastic in comparison to that of the SouthWest cue I Owned"
Alan E., New York

"The alternative cues by Mike Stacey are the best playing cues I have owned. I like the playability of these cues versus that of more than 20 SouthWest CUES I have owned."
Sandy O., Indonesia”

How many others compare pricing, wait for delivery times, and matching deminsions of the cues in their advertisement . Also, according to Sandy O from Indonesia... She thinks the alternative cues play differently (supposedly better..HA HA) then the 20 Southwest Cues she has supposedly owned. Just means they play DIFFERENT than a Southwest Cue. STOP trying to justify BLATANT copyright infringement....with your only defense is that OTHERS have done it before....SAD

Wow she is a piece of work, and still going when some one decide to use the word Black Eye to describe a bad situation they were most likely thinking of her.

JIMO

Sandy O is a man not woman....and if he think that his mike stacey (Alternative southwest cue) cue hit better than a southwest cue he own, it's up to him. he has a right to make that statement...
Many player in my country told me that a predator/mezz/schon cue is the best cue and many pool pro player in the world use it. But, for me my Olney hit the best. i don't really care what other opinion.....

Best
Dedy (Indonesia)
