Standing Up

I Got It Right

Pm me with your real name & city, if you'd like, and I'll pass your thoughts on to her. I do all her cue work now.

I got it right on the other thread....She's pissed because he makes it sound like he's got some special relationship with her, and can set someone up with her. She probably doesn't need anyone's help meeting new people, and got pissed that it sounded to her like she did...

Back to the original post!
I wonder what the real issue was that she took offense to was? Was it the fact Kevin was trying to play match maker? Or was it that he was bragged about doing her work for her? I not sure but one thing I do know is that there are way too many words expressed to be simple!!
Alternate Lifesytle or Male Ego bashed ? I'm just saying!!!

As for Jeanette not responding the way I did…Presuming she was involved and offended too, my guess is that it would have been a certified letter mailed directly to Kevin by her attorney demanding compensation for his advertisement seeing as he never received permission to use her name or likeness. In my opinion, he is lucky it was JUST a post.

By the way, this matter cold have been handled more privately…but, -- still waiting for a call back. Either way, I have no regrets.

I like the way you interpreted my theoretical remarks about Jeanette Lee. You filled them in perfectly in recognizing that this could be looked at as a business issue and handled like a business issue instead of the more personal approach you have chosen.

Maybe just a PM to Kevin to start and if you weren't satisfied with the response, then by all means, ramp it up! Calling out someone in public as a first response is just generally a risky business practice no matter how right you are.

I hope sometime to see you play and best of luck with everything and I hope you have a great new year! :D

Who cares she could have acted like a real pro and handled things like an adult instead she took it public and for someone to do that and be a "pro" its just in bad taste.

I can understand why she may have felt that way but its not like Varney was trying to do her any harm plus he did justify his comments and made it perfectly clear that they have spent more than just a passing moment with each other. I don't respect her reaction her opinion, yes, but her action, no.

It is amazing to me that there are 4 pages of posts on this thread when it has nothing to do with anyone except for her(Kristi) and him(KV). Even she said so. Only they know what the truth is. Not one of us was there or know first hand. Every time I opened up the Main Forum in the last two days these two threads were at the top. ENOUGH ALREADY! Let them work it out. Lets talk about POOL maybe. JMO

BVal

The bottom line.... ITS NOBODYS FRIGGIN BUSINESS BUT K. VARNEY AND K. CARTER. But everyone cant help but stir the pot, then somebody like Jimbo gets caught in the crossfire and gets banned.
The original thread should have been locked and not allowed to go on after page 2 or 3. If someone has a problem like this, handle it in private. A cease and desist order would have taken care of it, instead of causing drama on an internet forum dedicated to POOL.
For that friggin matter, this thread shouldnt have happened either. But some people cannot resist the urge to take sides, and try to get other people on thier own side.
Again, this is a POOL forum. Just wanted to say that one again.

I am a pathetic loser because I have wasted so much time reading the 25 page previous posts and now this one. I also don't know Mr. Varney or Ms. Carter. I probably have been guilty of dropping a name or too in my time and think I would have to side with Mr. Varney since he did more than one repair for Ms. Carter. I think this whole thing could've been nipped in the bud had Ms. Carter pm'd Mr. Varney rather than embarrass him in public...
my question to the fellows and the reason for the original post is: why is it necessary to comment or compliment a woman player on her beauty? It says much more about you than it does her...

I agree with everything in your post, and am also wondering why when speaking about a female pool player, commenting on her physical appearance is not only inevitable, it is usually the first thing mentioned. We don't judge male players on their attractiveness and we certainly don't go on and on and on and on about who we think is "omg he's so cute" like a bunch of lovestruck seventh graders.

My goodness, what an ordeal. I forgot how long the road around the golf course was when I began my exercise walk. I'd gone a loooong way (more than 100 yards) when I first felt the pain. My body was shutting down, due to a lack of food and beer. My body tensed up and I lost my footing and fell. I rolled into the ditch skirting the golf course and I couldn't get up or move a muscle.
Then it happened, the sun began to set and THEY came out. The RABBITS. I had no idea that millions of huge hungry rabbits lived hidden around the golf course. I could hear their munching (munching, munching, munching, munching) as they moved closer towards me, with their big buck-toothed smiles. I began to tremble and scream as loudly as possible. It was no use, noone could hear me. The fear was overwhelming.
I was about to be consumed by a pack of wild grazing RABBITS.
I made my peace with the Lord and lay still, awaiting my fate. If it hadn't been for that little girl walking her poodle, I'd have been a goner. She helped me to my feet, while 'Bubbles' barked at those horrible rabbits and I stumbled my way home again.
After two bologna sandwiches and a Moon Pie, washed down with 3 iced cold beers (and a glass of Jack Daniels), I'm starting to feel like my old self again.....

( quite franky, honoring JimBo wasn't worth the fear & terror of those rampaging RABBITS.... imo )

Did they look like this??

You have got to be joking!!!

I am married...so I have an inside source that women do the exact same thing......possibly even worse than men...

Besides....I would bet money that you have heard of the term "groupie"...I don't think I have ever heard of "groupie" (guys) following Madonna on tour...but I have heard of many following Justin.... (get the point)

ALSO....Consider the "source" of the origonal post in the Kristy Carter...err I mean Cristi Carter thread.... That particular poster (IMO) does not IMO represent the "normal" male society....

Get off your high horse and quit back door fishing for someone to complement you on you looks.....(I can read between the lines & I see you working)....and BTW....No...(IMO) you don't represent the "normal" female society either.

Well, sort of, except their horns were shorter (like the Devil's) and their teeth were real pointy and stuck out (like a buck-toothed Dracula)..

WOW! That is pretty harsh, why didn't you just insult me instead, since I originally posted it. Thank you Marissa, the ladies get the question, because it happens all the time on this forum. Men all the time comment on the lady pool players on AZ, and the women on this forum never and I mean never post about the men. We may talk about them (like your wife) amongst ourselves but, we are not dumb enough to put it in writing! It's lame and high schoolish.
And Marissa has a mirror, I'm sure she isn't fishing for a compliment from anyone on this forum.

I have to say that I've also read this thread and the previoius one in it's entirety. I prefer not to comment on who I perceive as being right or wrong here. What strikes me though is how powerful a debate has ensued.

A very intense debate with persuasive arguments on both sides. I found myself first agreeing with one person (side) and then being swayed the other way. Bottom line and why I like AZ so much. There are some intelligent people posting here, and a few not so intelligent ones too. But they also make more fodder for the fire.

Sorry that this was all prompted by a personal disagreement, but I have found it captivating as well. Much better than any "soap". So unlike some, I do not consider it time wasted.

In the end, I don't think this will have any lasting impact on Kristi or Kevin's life. In the overall scheme of things, this is small potatoes.

I've had a few girlfriends myself, so all those inane little thoughts that run through your head when you see a pretty girl? Yeah, I've thought 'em, too. I just don’t dictate them on a messageboard dedicated to pool.

And how do you figure I'm fishing for compliments while attempting to represent the female sex? If that's what you read in my previous post, then you need to reassess your thought process.

Well, whomever you decide to believe and/or side with I will make this one observation and then call this quits for myself.

Prior to any of this happening there was a question on Allison Fishers website (yes, I have looked at it) posed to her about who does her repair work. Her reply was..."A local guy named Kevin".
Well, come to find out that local guy is Kevin Varney. Can anyone find that passage on her website now? It is gone and to me that is very telling in terms of who the ladies are going to side with in this issue.
Kevin went so far as to insinuate he would not work on any WPBA players cues until he received an apology. Well, as far as I can tell, he ain't getting an apology and he ain't working on their cues anymore.

Just an observation from the peanut gallery.

It's just not fair to substantiate statements with fact or logic...it might get you banned....
