The only machinist levels I use are made by Starrett, and I use the 8" levels. They're about $115.00 each, you can find them on-line, as to the closet place to you that sells them.

Glen

Thanks glen

You can sometimes find a Starrett level on Fleabay, as well as a decent stapler.
I use a Duo-Fast 5018 but I prefer the glue down alot more. Alot less staples, and it turns out alot cleaner, tighter, and better. At least with the bedfelt since I still staple the rails.

Glen, you're a genius! I wish I'd have thought of this years ago, it would have saved the lives of a lot of staples, wood, and cloth...
Although probably not my fingers.......lol
When are you coming back to Sac?

I paid $65.00 on ebay for my (used) 8" starret level about 3 weeks ago...works great. I was lucky, didn't even have to calibrate it.

The new staple guns pictured here with the red stuff on them only use the T50 staples. They do not take the 1/2" crown staples anymore. (I don't know if this was mentioned earlier and I didn't catch it, but just so you all know.)

these will do if you can get em at a good price'--- http://www.ebay.com/itm/BeA-TOOLS-A...141?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5890f4665d
`
i don't think the new model a Harbor freight will be any good for our use on tables unless you like the T-50 staples

Excuse my ignorance but what's wrong with the t50 staple if the gun seats them properly?

After much research on electric, I bought this Italian stapler a few years back. http://www.amazon.com/Maestri-ME-El...ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1322415661&sr=1-1. I think I paid about $170 for it at the time. Curious what makes the air powered better? This one is works pretty darned well other than it jams more than I like. It's real light weight and the electric cord makes it flexible compared to an air hose. The staple is a bit narrower, is this a problem?

Electric is much slower to work with. Majority of them is limited to fire up to 20 staples per minute. I burn 7 black&decker electric staplers
before switching to air :)
