Steinway Billiards v. Buffalo Billiards: Meet the Real Hustlers!

Brian,
I don't know who you are and it doesn't matter but I think your photo and comment are sad.

JoeyA

I actually think the video is funny but i can also see why others might think the video is sad as well.

Ok so let me get this straight..lol...they change the existing and already retarded video to exclude themselves basically telling people to go **** themselves and replace it with kids saying positive things....you have to be the saddest group of individuals I have ever seen and have the pleasure of not knowing....I also don't know what world you people live in that you call people out and tell them to come to you......why don't you all chip in some a "dat cash" and rent yourselves a nice short bus and drive up to NYC. Absolute losers.

And just because I'm a nice guy I did the leg work for you....here's a nice short bus for sale in your local area...see you all soon!!

I don't mean to be a stickler but that's a regular size bus.

Quoting Frankie Hernandez? Referring to an exchange between him and Ginky comparing the financial outcome of a pool pro versus a humble city sanitation worker.

No i did not know of that conversation. Just something that was quite apparent in my extensive travels. Yeah we still have some older bust out hangers on but for the majority they are younger and fairly well off-the league players even more so compared to just 40 to 1500 miles outside the city.

I haven't done any surveys but i'd bet on the results.

Well, what's sad to me is that the video was only meant in jest. It was originally created to be fun. Yes, the one-finger salutes were not something I liked seeing, but Erica removed them and edited the video. Either she reads AzBilliards, or a member from AzBilliards said something to her about them.

Erica not only made some good edits by includinug youngsters proclaiming some pool accolades, but she also changed the music by adding a song written by a local pool player named Young Saint, which I thought was pretty cool. It's not my style of music, but I enjoyed listening to the words.

What I think is very sad is having someone post up a meme of an obviously tormented female and giving the impression that this is the South -- or worse, that this is Erica.

I've met a lot of Yankee salamanders and longshoremen nits up North in my travels, and I could post up some memes about the stereotypical New Yorker, but for what purpose? To get into back-and-forth flame on this thread, a thread that was intiated to have a little fun banter between Steinway and Buffalo's? This is not fun banter, some of what is written on this thread. :(

FWIW, I think Erica is actually very attractive, as far as females go. I also believe she is really talented when it comes to creating pool video snippets about pool in her neck of the woods, and when she shares her on-the-road travels to various pool destinations, I enjoy watching them.

Here's a link to a CD written by a local New Orleans pool player named "Young Saint" ---> Who Dem Billiards

JAM <-- lives below the Mason-Dixon line, thank God!

Only the APA could be behind something that makes me cringe this hard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbUjCsfDd0A

Actually, I applaud the APA for this. For too many decades, pocket billiard lily-white right-wingers have discriminated against women and African Americans.

Because Cisero Murphy was African American in an era when there were racial tensions in the United States, he was not invited to compete in world title events until 1965, despite his skills as a player.

I actually remember a sign in the front of a pool hall in Petersburg, VIrginia, that said "No Women Allowed." I walked in, anyway, with my road partner Geese, though we didn't stay long. Everybody stoppod what they were doing when a female dared to walk into their sacred pool room.

'Bout time we see the face of pool being represented to look like America.

Get your political BS out of here. Discrimination was everywhere.

That video and music is what makes us cringe. It's awful. I don't recall Atlatlien saying anything about race or gender...

Yes, discrimination was everywhere, and today is a new era. Again, I applaud APA for showing the video of Young Saint.

Atlatlien did *not* saying anything about race or gender. I did. And I'll say it again, if need be. Pool has discriminated against women and blacks in America. I, for one, am glad to see it is changing.

My post most definitely is pool-related. It's not BS, as you put it. It's a fact.

"Right-Wingers" as you put it, is getting political. This is a thread about Erica's video, don't derail your own thread.

Man, what's up with you? Nobody can say those words without making a thread political?

The advancement of pocket billiards in America was thwarted because of right-wing-like thinking. Sorry, Pal, but that's the way it was. It was not limited to pool. There were other facets of our society that also were affected by this way of thinking.

Don't tell me what I can write and what I can't write. I don't particularly care for your usage of the acronym "BS" in this thread, but I didn't call you out on it. I happen to not think my post was "BS." You think it is. We are each entitled to our opinions, but you are not going to prohibit my freedom of speech on this forum when I am writing about pool. Gimme a break!

Did you mean you thought Brian's photo was funny and the video sad?
JoeyA

His photo comment was no more out of line than the video. Those people look zombied out, poorly groomed, and for the most part dirty. They should tackle the market that shows like Intervention have. I agree with Brian on this one. Looking like Resident Evil in that video. You are sure fighting this battle hard on the forums and Facebook like they NO gets to say and do whatever it wants but if anyone fires back than they are out of line. Get off the soap box and realize nothing would be said if you fools didn't start it first.

This is absolutely not my musical cup-of-tea, either.

But, I really like the idea of growing our sport and this kind of video, I'm sure, can appeal to a lot of the younger crowd who we desperately need to start paying attention to the game.

Also, I didn't hear any vulgar or otherwise offensive lyrics. Just pool playing.

best,
brian kc

You get upset quickly. It's too early to banter about your BS, so I'm going get another cup of coffee.

Au contraire, my little forum friend. Seems like when you hear the word "right winger," you get your panties all in a bunch. You enjoy that cup of coffee, now, ya hear?

I would get just as annoyed if you started blabbing about "Left-Wingers". I don't like politics in my pool, just like I don't put concrete in my coffee. They don't mix.
