STICKY - For Those Needing 25 Posts For Full AZB Access

agreed Luke, but to my knowledge there was no warning about needing 25 posts. I admit afterwards I felt ridiculous and tried to turn it into an introduction thread but that didn't work either.
I will try to make reasonable comments in the future.

I think those that intentionally try to skirt the 25 rule should be required to purchase a years membership prior to being able to post again. Truth is, I think those that avail themselves of the knowledge and collective wisdom here should feel morally obligated to purchase a membership. I'll not argue the point.....but I will maintain that belief.....Dan

I second this and think that EVERYONE shoud have to purchase a membership to join AZB.

Think of how many spammers would disappear!!!

Its readily apparent that you are not the problem. Welcome to AZB!!

This is a joke.
All my previous posts have been deleted and back to zero.

A few weeks ago I was able to view the Action Room and I made a bet on the Masters golf and paid up and lost.

Now I am blocked from viewing that forum until I post 25 times.

So I post a few random things bringing my post total to around 11 or 12.
And now that is too random so I get knocked back to zero.

Okay Mods, please provide the exact wording of the posts you would like me to make so I can view the Action Room forum and continue to bet.

Saying Yang is a Monster is not good enough, too short?
Should I go into how he dumped a match in the WPC in Cardiff and cost me $20,000?

Frustrated

Why should someone have to participate in the way that you want us to?

I have viewed the forums for a while now and have never posted one thing. Most of the time, I do not feel I personally have anything to add to conversations. Would you have me flame these conversations if i do not have anything productive to say?

I do not feel that that makes me less of a pool fan than someone else. When i am out at my pool hall or talking to friends who play pool i tell them about your website. I let them know you provide a great service to the pool community especially as a connection to the great streamers who post on your site.

Speaking of those streamers, I have purchased PPVs with ACCU Stats and TAR. Their links here are in valuable in keeping up with the latest matches.

Other than links to Inside Pool (which i got from AZ posts) you are the only billiard site i visit. I am sure your advertisers would be happy to know their ad dollars are well placed in choosing you to reach our community.

I realize that it is your site and i am just a visitor, but this is very frustrating to have to make multiple posts to get to the one area I enjoy viewing. My first set of required posts were all deleted yesterday, so this is my second attempt to enter this forum. There has to be another way to moderate the people who are causing you problems rather than restricting participants who participate in the pool community, but do not participate the same way you do.

Thank you for your consideration,
zachmosis

Hanging around as a newbie is far from spamming the board just for the sake of reaching 25 posts.

Which of us is worse off?

Me for considering the trash posts spam or the person who doesn't have enough character to make 25 posts and actually participate in the forum?

Dag nab it, I better stop coasting and start posting. I need to get my post count number up. :grin-square:

Happy Easter, Mr. Wilson. I'll bet you-all have bunny rabbits where you live. The foxes in my area don't allow me to see very many bunnies anymore.

The *real* problem, IMO, is not the newbies with less than 25 posts. Rather, it's the multiple-identitied members with more than one account. It is one thing to change your forum name and get a new account, but when you post under multiple accounts, talking to yourself as another member, when it is the same person posting under two accounts, well, it seems to me like that's not a good thing either, yet it continues to happen. :(

I noticed one time a person was banned, and they proceeded to create three or four more new accounts, no problem. Each one would get banned, and a new one would sprout up.

Believe me, that Action Room ain't nothing but a bunch of Internet barking half the time, and some of them aren't even good at it, though they talk a good game. Not much materializes as far as gambling. They just like to squawk at each other, it seems to me.

Some of them boast about how much money they can stack, and they believe this gives them the right to belittle all others. IOW, it doesn't even matter if you play pool. These people who claim to have deep pockets seem to think they're worthy of respect, even though they don't play pool themselves for the cheese. They think because they gamble high that this gives them the right to put down all others.

If you want to hear barking, go to the pool room and see it up front and close. It gives these forum barksters the 2 and out.

Believe me, I know. I'm a professional railbird! :grin-square:

could you into detail with the wpc info? might make for some intresting topics

I joined az in March 2007 and was mostly a lurker for 2 years, accumulating maybe 10 posts during that time.

At any point, I could have jumped in and joined the conversations. It would have been very easy to make 25 'real' posts, if that was what was required of me to enjoy full access on az forums.

I honestly do not believe it is Jerry and Mike's intention to make life difficult for any of the 'good guys' who choose to lurk here. They may be much more interested in making things a little more difficult for those who simply want to swing in and be disruptive or possibly, as JAM pointed out, make it somewhat less appealing for those who like to create multiple user accounts/ID's.

Whatever their motivation, everyone should respect the fact that it's their website and, ultimately, their decision as to how they run their business.

Meanwhile, and IMHO, meeting a requirement of making 25 substantive posts should not be viewed as some sort of punishment, but rather, a chance to interact with some nice people who share your passion for pool.

Best,
Brian kc

There was a time, since corrected, where a player had already made it through to the next round and would then have a meaningless match. Some of these matches were suspect but you really had to be a dumb ass to bet in that situation.

+1. This is the truth.

Jennie,

Hope you and Keith are having a wonderful Easter! Down here we have a serious shortage of foxes and an overabundance of bunnies. Please come on down and bring all the foxes you can find with you, two legged or four! :D:D:D

Hu (has to admit we aren't short on two legged fox, but a few more never hurts)

LOL! Happy Easter to you, too, Hu! We're chowing down on Prime Rib today. Hope you do something fun.

Gary knows

Im sure a lot of your customers feel they shouldnt pay time or for sodas either. You may have a reason not to allow that just as the owners of AZ Billiards have a good reason for the count rule. You sure you are the owner?

which way the wind blows.

Nostroke-I think you are just at the disadvantage of not knowing some of the less visible West coast pillars of the pool scene.

Gary runs a good room.

Take care

I was just giving him a dig for being a business owner and not being tolerant of the way another business runs theirs when they are not being outrageous at all (imo).

While I understand the annoyance of the various threads and posts made recently for the benefit of those looking to recover / gain access to TAR and Raffles, I have to say that your post seemed a little harsh. I am, myself, a user who might be considered a lurker... I don't find that I've caused any problems by doing so. I inquired about a couple of items being sold (with intent to buy), asked some questions of cuemakers when contemplating a custom cue, and offered an opinion or two when I thought it was relevant or added to the discussion. It's a very real possibility that many of these cancerous lurkers, to borrow your phrase, are members whose curiosity has been satisfied by using the much touted (and useful) search feature. The "contribution" people like myself make, notwithstanding the new posting frenzy to gain the aforementioned access, is in keeping quiet instead of butting in where we have no place and learning what we are after without bothering the natives.

I totally agree. Let the "pundits" feed their egos by issuing their 10,000th post. I use the forum the way you do, and don't think I'm causing tumors on anyone.

Holy smokes. I'm glad I got my posts in when I did.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but what is an sc5 ? Someone mentioned it earlier.

An SC5 is "that guy". Any kind of trouble you can imagine stemming from somebody on an internet forum, and especially this one given its special interest areas... he's special enough that he's worked his way into the vernacular, i.e. "you got SC5'd" for non-payment, "the SC5 rule" as a proposed name for the 25 post rule... the regulars could probably come up with some others
