Still Got A Little Gas In The Tank...

That was awsome , good stuff ! Starting apa league in June after 15 year break .Going to have some fun !

Good for you , nicely done !

Great story. I could feel your anxiety in the way you conveyed the story, and have felt that myself on occasion.

There once was a playa named Brian
Who could bring it when he was tryin'
He said with a grin
This eight ball is in
And left the other team cryin'

:clapping::clapping::clapping:

My coffee got cold while I was reading that, KC......
...you write as well as you play

regards
pt

There once was a playa named Paul
Who had such control of the ball
So quick with his wit
And he played with true grit
Just watch how his stack will grow tall

If you really go to next dcc, I'll fix you up with a hot coffee.

and maybe that steak.

best,

Fun story to read there Brian. I enjoyed the winter league in southington when I went, I do miss it.

Is the Kurt you speak of the same Curt that played in the senior league? Nice guy if it is.

I think I know who you're referring to (Curtis G?) but it's not him.

Kurt on my team is maybe early 30's, real handsome kid. Shoots straight. :)

thanks all and Tramp, you, sir, are insanely funny. :grin-square::eek::grin-square:

Manoman asked if I did any kicking.

In an earlier game I went to do a basic 2 rail kick just to make a hit and when whitey hit the first rail it was like green cement. It never made it back to the oblect ball. Remember, this was one of the worst tables in the league. There was no more kickin for the chicken into that rail.

Congrats!

So this is real "bar pool" rules?..not just call the pocket? I noticed the ref ask if you'll be making the three ball "clean"..that's tough action..

Jeremy;

not just clean but in this league you would actually have to call rail first with whitey if the cue ball was gonna hit the cushion just prior to contacting an object ball.

Congrats Brian! Thanks for the story. Those are our most cherished memorable moments in pool. Sure keeps ya going doesn't it! Sounds like that would have been a pretty awesome finals match for a stream. Was it recorded?

Good shooting to you,

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, and yes you are right on. These are great moments.

Back what feels like a hundred years ago (really just 30 -40), I played well and was quite consistent. I played maybe a hair under shortstop speed. It felt powerful.

All these years later, I'm not much of a threat to take down any tourneys but still I enjoy to play them when I can. Support the game.

The real point in posting this thread was that we don't necessarily have to be doing well on a big stage to get a lot of enjoyment out of the game.

It can be as simple as playing in a small local league or tourney and making a guy nervous who's a few skill levels above you.

Just have some fun.

Oh, and no, there wasn't any stream - we can't even get them to fix the 2 dead cushions.

Proof that pool really is an all-ages activity. Name another sport a guy in his later years can be competitive at?

Nice job taking it down!

I was searching for another old thread and this one turned up. Def a fun memory.

Since then, one of the guys on the other team, Vic, lost his life in a car accident and this year we made it to the semi finals (so far) but the night we were scheduled to play was the first night CT bars, etc, shut down due to covid-19.

guessing we won't get to resume play until at least mid-summer.

I feel ya!

I said this in the other thread and I believe it's worth repeating here.

First, congrats. What a great win this was.

But, in accomplishing this you ruffled feathers of some very important people. be on guard for any possible reprisals. you're a marked man now.

best,
BB

Congratulations!

Congratulations!(There is a reason that people say I may not be a pro crastionator but I am the ranking amateur)

It does feel good to accomplish a goal, to notch a win for the team even better. I know the joys of playing with a team, gotta admit that I prefer me against the world. I think that is what makes pool players, we are not team players. We want to carry the ball all the time and take every shot.

Great story and I seem to have missed it first time or two around. I hope when your interrupted season starts again you smoke'm! I suspect everyone will be rearing to go!

Sad about your friend. Makes the memory even better for you I'm sure.
