I glad it all went well. Looks like it was a good time and I only wish I could have been there to shake his hand and wish him the best. Great work AZB!

Gene hittin some balls !!!

You did a really nice thing for your friend. We all provided a small amount of funding, but you supplied a large amount of heart. As they say, "priceless". Those pics make me want to visit Dallas again.

one last bit of bookeeping that almost slipped by me.

Cardigan Kid, you sly dog.

I ended up twenty bucks too much in what I collected and I'm usually on top of thing like this, so how did it happen, I wondered.

Going back on paypal I figured it out pretty quick.

I confused his payment with Cardiac Kid, see how I did that? Cardigan Kid / Cardiac Kid...

Of course, Lyn, cardiac kid had already paid and cardigan kid being the generous man he obviously is, tried to slip me an extra $20 and he wasn't even on the pledge list.

thank you sir for your kindness.

I refunded your paypal payment, and if I ever get to meet you, I'll buy you a beer.

Steve, thx for the great report and getting this done on your end.

And Pat for the cue deal.

and everyone who supported or even just enjoyed this outcome.

best,
brian kc

Way to go everybody working together to accomplish a common goal! Looks like Gene really liked the cue, and is "back in the saddle" again. With all the drama on here, it's nice to see something positive shine it's light on AzB!

Ha ha, I figured it could be a toast to your good deed on the new year. This is an inspiring thread-which are few and far between around here lately. so my hat is off to you, sir.
Definitely, the next round is on me when we meet down the line.

Well done, and you have my support in any future fund raisers for sure.

Perfect, just perfect. :)

This has turned out great. I am proud to have been involved in a small way.

It turns out the bulk of AZB members will chip in a few bucks for a good cause without a second thought, and without insisting on perfection in all the details.

I hereby nominate Brian aka Kickin' Chicken as official AZB coordinator of anything and everything that requires honesty of effort, and maybe insider contacts.

Thanks very much for ramrodding this - job well done. Few of us could have turned a small start into such a nice cue (and case!).

p.s. not to leave out txstang who brought this to AZB, and who has my thanks for his part in getting Gene's cue replaced.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their outpouring of support for Gene ! This is a pic from today. Gene came up to sweat our end of season BCA Masters 9-ball tourny.

He had the cue y'all got him tapered down and loves it !! So again , thanks you !

The Dallas pool community

I just wanted inform everyone that Mr.Gene Burns collapsed while pumping gas yesterday or the day before, and passed instantly. I'm still waiting on more details, but i have to guess he was on his way to the pool room to sweat some action, smoke some cigarettes and drink his coffee.

I just wanted to post on here for the everyone that helped out last December with getting him another cue after his was stolen. who knew he was in his last year of life.

Thanks again guys, I know it really meant a lot to him that people opened up their heart and wallet for a man/veteran/father/pool player that most had never met. it meant a lot to me also to be a part of it and help do some good.

R.I.P. Gene , you will be missed.

May Gene rest in peace....knowing that a bunch of pool players loved him.

Thank you for sharing this. It was amazing that this one man brought together so many people across the country that had never met him.

Stand down soldier, your watch is done. Rest in Peace.

Gene we will all miss you around the DFW pool scene.

Thanks for letting everyone know Steve.
