Stolen Cues - please help

Hi!
Silver Member
As many of you heard, Cuemaker Anne Mayes passed away on Nov 6th. I am saddened to report more bad news. Right after her death, her apartment was broken into and all of her cues and a computer were stolen.

Below in the photo are some of the cues that were taken from Annie O?s Pro Shop. There were customers? finished cues that were also stolen that we have no documentation of, so please keep your eyes and ears open. All of the money Anne received from the fund raising efforts was also taken from her apartment, totaling nearly 5k in cash.

If you have any information regarding these thefts which total in excess of 20k, please contact: Officer C. Parris, Houston Police Department @ 713.735.2062.

The lowest of the low...scum who read death notices, in order to safely burglarize. May there be a special place in hell reserved for them.

Most Burglars dont know shinola about cues, This was some lowlife that knew her and knew the stuff would be unguarded. They probably hit during the funeral. Either way, I hope they find that special place in hell.

just ain't right

yah..had to be somebody within the pool community. It's surely not helping the bad rap that pool players get to begin with.

I had a friend that had given his cue to Anne to be wrapped. He got his cue back about 5 days ago....he said that he called the office and one of Anne's friends was there, so they looked for his cue and gave it back to him. That was just about 5 days ago....when did this happen?

Probably someone that knew her and that the stuff was there. I hope someone shoots the SOB before the cops get him. Johnnyt

There wasn't an obituary printed in the paper, but the news spread fast through word of mouth that she passed.

I do not know why the money was in her apartment and not in the bank. ?

Terry - the cue you are referring to was in her lathe and covered up with some stuff, so it wasn't one of the ones stolen - I guess because the thief didn't see it.

When I first heard this news I was sick to my stomach. Still ticks me off.

The cue in the woman's hands to the far left in an original McDermott D-26 made in 1984.

I cannot believe the human race sometimes. This is just awful. I hope everything is recovered in a timely manner. I am a long way away, but I will keep my eyes peeled just in case.

eyes peeled

yah..i guess we'll have to keep a close look out on ebay....and if we could spread the word, it will be harder for this SCUM BAG to get rid of the cues.
Sorry sac of ....

I truly hope that those who did this will find that place in hell mentioned above... I am very-very sorry that things like this could happen, this is awful :(

I'm not sure where she is located, I'm in Seattle Wa. I would give all the pawn shops the pictures of the cues,so if they show up there, they can call the police. poolrod.

This took place in Houston Tx. I'm pretty sure this has been done though.

This is sad.

Melinda,

Good for you for putting this out on the forums! I'm sure the folks here will do their best to solve this.
Again, good job.

I'll pass the word along in our local Houston APA leagues. I know of a few people who are scum like this and I wouldn't put it past them. I'll see what (if anything) I can uncover.

Sorry to hear about Anne. I am going to be directing a rated tournament
at Shooters in Wichita this week-end. Next week-end I will be at Magoo's in Tulsa for their Midwest 9-Ball Tour stop. I will keep an eye out for
these cues. Hopefully, they will be found.
