Stolen cues :(

Thanks to the power of the iPhone, I can post here about my truck getting broken into and my cues/case being stolen, before the cops even get here!

:(

More details and a photo or two once I get home.

oh man... my friend's car was stolen at a community college yesterday. His car and his cues are gone. Damn theives!

Prime example as to why you don't leave them in your vehicle.....

Good luck in your recovery efforts....

Oh, I expect I won't get'em back. But who knows.

Here's a photo of my playing cue (Schon LTD-1033). Shafts include the stock one (without the little logo near the joint), a Predator 314, and an OB-1 shaft.

The Schon has a leather wrap, and a couple of small chunks taken out of the finish, where the wrap ends, one on either end of the wrap.

Also in the case was a Jerico Stinger B/J cue, and a Showcase "Buster" break cue. Plus the various knick-knacks a pool player carries around in his case (which is a black/blue leather Sterling).

Stolen from behind a restaurant on Howell Mill Rd., just east of I-75, in the Atlanta metro area.

There's a couple of pawn shops in the area I'm going to hit over the weekend, just in case...

Ba$tards!

Seems like a fairly rare cue. LTD w/an OB shaft. Get to the pawn shops and local pool halls with some flyers! The thief knew a cue case so they're probably looking to unload it somewhere. Hope you get them back.

Your SCHON is a LTD 1033.

Retail price was $1033.00 last time I priced one.

Good luck getting your property back.

DERRR. How often do I look at my OWN sig? NEVER. :P

*bonk!*

Thanks for pointing out the nose on my face, guys. :D

I'll keep my eyes open in SC buddy.

Well, there's cue thefts in pool halls - by folks who know how to move cues around - and then there's just some jackass breaking into a car and looking for something to sell for a quick buck.

Apparently my truck is just the latest to be vandalized in the area. So I'm guessing whoever did it, is going to go to a local pawn shop.

Nice thing is, the cop who took my report mentioned that they arrested one guy just the other day, who was trying to pawn some stolen stuff... state law is all items have to be registered with the po-po, and this clown's stuff raised some big red flags.

I gave the cop some VERY detailed info on the case and the cues inside - and will be doing the same with the detective who is supposed to call me sometime soon. So hopefully, if my stuff is pawned, it'll scream out "HEY I'M STOLEN!" :P

Scott,
Trust me brother, i know exactly how you feel. About 8 years ago, when i was first getting into pool, i had the best night on the table i've had to this day. I took about 3200 of this kid. He only had about 2800, so he gave me his beautiful 4x8 instroke case, two nice falcon cues and a bungee jump cue to make up the rest. About 6 months later I was at a bar that was hosting a benefit for a police officer who had been killed. All the money was going to his family. There were 600 cops there and my car was parked 60 feet from the door. My car was broken into and they stole my cues, phone, cds, radio, my book bag that had all my college books in it and some clothes. That was the most violated I have ever felt in my life. I truly feel for ya bud. Good luck with everything.

i'll sure keep a sharp eye out if anything surfaces in my area of SC as well as easye. Hope your auto or home insurance can help out! I had one copped from me in a pool hall while I was in the head many years ago in Boston. Best of luck getting it back but the chances are probably slim.

Well, emailed the detective in charge a nice detailed list of what was in the case.

Also sent it to my insurance agent - seeing as it was in my car, and I have my homeowners' insurance through them (State Farm), I'm covered. Should be a check in the mail in a few days.

So now I go cue shopping, I guess... meh! Nice thing is, there's a fair number of cuemakers here in Atlanta who do good work. So I may well just "go local".

This sucks!

Another good reason to have a complete set photos of your valuable assets.
If you are wise enough to have good insurance it will certainly help you establish legitimate value as well as expedite the reimbursement process. Must say though, it does nothing to take that bitter taste out of your mouth.
Sorry about your loss, this kind of shit sucks!

I would put money on it the cue turns up for sale in a poolroom, bar, or pawnshop within 24 hours. B&Es are usually for a quick $ fix. Everyone always dreams of finding a high dollar cue in a pawnshop. I recently did. A custom 1981 Huebler and a $700 Schon. My total purchase price for the two of them $49.90 before taxes. Either someone pawned a family member's cues not knowing what they were worth, or the junkie that stole them had no clue and let them go for $10 each. Either way, they never turned up on the hot sheets, so I was legal.

Good luck with the insurance company.

GL with recovering if you can, and GL with picking out a new cue with the check. Glad you were able to recover the money for it at least.

Nice buy there! The thing I find, is with the internet and search engines, it's harder to find a true bargain. It's just too easy to look up what something is worth and compare 20 sources these days. Unless whoever is selling is cluless about doing reasearch on what he/she has.
