I know with the inactivity of the IPT, that many readers no longer visit the IPT Forum section.
BUT, I thought that today's post by Double Dave might garner more comments once a post was made here in the Main Forum.

Oy-Vey !

* Comments welcome. :)

The IPT website certainly seems to be up and running... with banner ads and event schedules and everything! Has it been like that since the whole thing ended?

Scary...

Challenge matches..???? Hmmmm..that is a good idea. They may be onto something. :D  :D

Of course there is no real Challenge per se. It is an exhibition match pure and simple. Both guys paid the same amount no matter the result. Both guys will fight their hardest to win, I have no doubt of that, but to me it just isn't the same.

If there's a problem with the webcast?

Will the IPT refund us in monthly payments? Or treat us great, like The Action Report has done for everyone?:D

Fixed that for you. :D

I heard from a little squirrel months ago, that this would be the direction the IPT would take. A series of Challenge matches made for the internet. All designed to sell the feed to the unsuspecting (you know, "bang" their credit cards) and sign up as many people/victims as possible.

This way there is relatively little expense involved, and a nice revenue stream can be generated. This is the business model that KT knows and loves.

A small handful of players may benefit from these "shows". Of course, we all know that many (most) pool players will take any handout they can get.

"Crumbs for a few, spam for the rest"! The new motto of the IPT.

I might be totally naive! But is it possible this is legit? They don't seem to be asking for any money to "become a member" of the "new IPT site" and to gain access to watch this match.

Copied from the site...

IPT User Registration

Welcome to the new International Pool Tour web site. We invite you to register as a Basic Member, which is absolutely free. As a basic member, you will be able to see great live broadcasts of challenge matches between the best players in the world (see the schedule page). You will also be able to watch instructional video clips to help you improve your game, along with a selection of other videos from IPT events. Basic members will also receive generous discounts through the IPT store. Just complete this form to become a basic member and start enjoying the benefits of membership on this web site. And again, this membership level is absolutely free.

(Just throwing it out there... food for thought... feel free to tell me I'm being naive :-)... but why would respected professional pool players like Archer and Strickland get involved with something that we all know by now is just a scam??

OK, I stand corrected... see below from another thread... so, again, my question remains, why would professional pool players like Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland get involved with this? I find it so hard to believe they are looking for their paycheck and to hell with all the fans.

I just jumped over to the IPT website and tried to watch a video.I was told I wasn't authorized and had to become a member[totally free]so I did. When I clicked on to a match I wanted to watch I still wasn't authorized. You need to pay 5.95 to become a "premium member"to see the vid's. Not to surprising is it? Just what did I expect? Don

Jeez Jay, can't you give the IPT a little break? After all, this is the greatest thing to ever happen to pool! :p I am interested in playing in some qualifiers to get a chance to play in a challenge match. I figure I may win the lotto and have money to throw away! :(

Jeepers!
I can't wait to give my credit card info to KT, put on my finest IPT T-Shirt and watch an exhibition! I wonder how many times my credit card would be banged?

Oh yes....this sounds like a real bad deal...count me in! NOT!

I don't think you need to give your credit card info to sign up as a 'basic' member, which is what you need to see this event...

You do need to pay with credit card to be a 'premium' member which would let you view some of the IPT tour matches they have online.... So this thing really does seem free, and you don't need to give your credit card info... I still feel reluctant.

TAP TAP Jay,,,and as I suggested in the other thread...assuming that the challengers will be paid from IPT coffers, then they are trumping money still due to the MANY players still being stiffed...players who PAID serious money in some cases to qualify for the IPT events.

Now...if it was a FUND RAISER where two champions competed for free, for the purpose of raising money to pay off the stiffed IPT players then

A. That would be an enormously noble gesture for two champions to make on behalf of their fellow pros...without whom there would be no pro tour AT ALL (so yes, they are their brother's keepers...if they know what's good for them )and.
B. Would be a BRILLIANT marketing strategy for KT/IPT & Co. and might significantly offset the MASSIVE negative sentiment that surrounds that living outhouse as things stand now.

But why is it, Jay, that I just can't make myself believe that KT would ever associate himself with a project that would involve nobility?

I think it would make him sick...but no worries...I'm sure he has a Natural Cure for LSOS disease!!!! Ya think??????????????

Do Not Takes This Lightly

I just read an interesting article about a new device invented in Nigeria.
It's a type of very tiny robotic insect. When you sign up online for anything Free, this little robot bug traces your IP and then creeps out of your computer's speaker in the dark of night and creeps around your home until it finds your wallet or purse.

THEN, it takes out your Visa, Master Card or American Express card and memorizes the card number. It returns to your computer and every month for the rest of your life, you are billed for services rendered (even if there aren't any).

Any attempt to be removed from the billing list is left unanswered and ignored. Persistant complaining or filing of lawsuits will result in the robotic bugs being sent out to make your automobile runs badly.
