Strong Arm John Action Challenge for The Entire Nation!!

I'd like to watch that match if they actually play for five figures. I've made 23 out of 24 college threes before betting for beers, but there's got to be a million guys out there who would rob me. I've heard stories of people around the Bay Area watching Chris Mullin of the Warriors practice- they've seen him make 70-80 out of 100 3's from pro range.

46% for a season in college is pretty damn good, corvette. Its a hell of a lot harder to make them in a an actual game.

Yeah but it was a NAIA DIV 13 private Baptist directional city school!! :D

Seriously.. where did you hoop at?
You mentioned Run and Shoot .. I remeber going up and ballin' over there when they opened up ... wasnt that back in 96 or so ?

> I have a video of LeBron James making 16 in a row from half-court in high school,11 of those never touched anything but COTTON.

> I'm sure Larry Bird has the means to bet sky-high on this. Let's not forget the NBA 3 point contest where he made 25 in a row from NBA-range,and turned around and walked off with the #1 hoisted over his head, not even bothering to watch the last one fall,he KNEW it was over. Funny thing is,he walked into the locker room earlier that day and said "OK boys, who's finishing 2nd today?" Tommy D.

I barely made the high school team. I was the 12th man and was used to break full court presses because of my dribbling ability. My heroes were Marques Haynes and Leon Hillard of the Globetrotters.

I can shoot 3 pointers also, but nothing like the guys on here. 70% is amazing to me. I think 50% is damn good. I have a couple of tricks dribbling the ball that I would love to bet on. Like dribbling closest to the ground for the longest time. I don't think anyone can dribble a basketball one inch from the ground for five minutes. But I can! I might even bet on it. I can also dribble the ball one half inch off the ground for over a minute. Try that some time.

Is there anyone on here who knows Larry Bird and can contact him about this?
Not sure if you follow the Pacers or not but me thinks Larry has a lot more to worry about than betting on a free throw contest. Like an NBA franchise melting down during his tenure.

Breaking News: Pacer players DID NOT shoot up a strip club tonight. Do not worry though we are sure things will be back to normal tomorrow night. Remeber Friday's are Kevlar night at Club Rio.

Larry and John do spend time in the same city though.....hmmmm..I like John in the all-around..Free Throws, Arm Wrestling, 8 Ball.

i ran around with a guy in college that played with larry's nephew at springs valley, he said larry liked to bet $10 a 3 pointer shooting blindfolded, i doubt he'd want anything to do with shooting 3's for high stakes, it wouldn't be a very presidential thing to do

Sorry if you were offended JCIN, however, the terminology "action" is used very randomly and is a very broad concept. I understand your concerns though. I know you personally and you know I wouldn't intentionally try and steal your coin. Just trying to seek attention to the thread.
I think it is ridiculious that JCIN thinks he owns the right to the term 'action challenge', where ever and when ever it is used.

Whatever.

Before we started using the term I had never heard it used to describe anything. Tell you what hero, go back through the archives and find where someone used the term " Action Challenge" EXACTLY to describe something before July of this year.

I have no illusions of owning anything. All I am trying to do is keep from having to wade through emails and questions about the Big Arm John "Action Challenge" match and why isn't it going off or where is it happening.

Wouldn't it be cool to see Larry Bird break out the Chuck Taylor's and shoot against Strong Arm John's guy.
I think John is refering to himself in this challenge , not sure about that , but I believe he is 54 ...

No- John is not the one shooting.

"In 1972, Ted started touring the country doing free throwing exhibitions. This culminated in a record 1,704 free throws in a row during a Phoenix Suns halftime show."

Which, coincidentally, also broke the previous record of 8 hours, 16 minutes, and 34 seconds for the longest halftime show in basketball history. In addition, this feat nearly broke the record for the most boring halftime show in basketball history, but lost out by a narrow margin to a high school halftime show in Platte City, MO headlined by the Platte City Plate Spinners. (no offense intended, should such an organization actually exists :o )

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously, though, how long would it take to throw 1,700 friggin free throws?? Would it be recommended to buy a few treasury bonds before you start so they would mature about the time you finish? Damn.

I find it hard to believe that Noone can beat this 54 year old man in a 3 point shooting contest.... I mean, Steve Kerr, Reggie Miller, J.J Reddick, and many others would be huge favorites to win..... Getting those guys involved maybe tough... But CMON....
