Stuck In Third Gear- Long Post

I ventured down to Comet Billiards over the weekend and once again finished third. I'm not bragging or complaining just stating facts. The first day went remarkably well. My first match I played Tim Parisian on the TV. table. I jumped out early 3-0 and then found myself trailing 8-5. Tim played great, I made a few mistakes. I managed to escape winning the final four games.

A big lead against Joey Kosiack 7-1 dwindled quickly and it was soon 7-6. I pulled it together and won the final two games.

Holden Chin was next. He struggled early with the cue-ball, It was lighter than the others, and I got a big lead and held on.

Day two: Dave Grau was the victim of the best match I've played in some time and I still only won 9-7.

Back to the TV. table and me and Denis Hatch vie for the hot seat. I have chances early but I don't take advantage. With the score 5-4 his favor. I miss a make able one-ball and never win another game.

Al Lepena, crushes me in the next set 9-1.

Tournament over for me, I'm sent packing.

I had a great time. Comet Billiards is a great place to play. People there bought a lot of books from me. I hope they enjoy it. The World Is On Two, introduced himself to me. Sorry I was playing I would have enjoyed talking a little. I'm looking forward to going back there. It could be worse. I could be stuck in forth gear.

Of course, Dennis Hatch won. He's amazing. Ten Joss events this year. Good luck, in Vegas, Dennis.

I need to work on my stamina. I'll start walking this week.

Thanks for listening.

You shot pretty well it sounds like, no shame losing to Dennis at anything. How many people can say "I shot on the TV table" :) Good job... better luck next time.

hey tom I watched your match with tim.thanks to accu-stats and pat fleming.you have a real nice stroke and anyone who says you cant play when you get to the golden years is wrong, in your case anyway good shooting and good luck in the future.are you 60 or somewhere in there?

Don't apologise Tom. You played great to get there and are an inspiration to all us middle aged guys (57). I doubt if I had gotten there that I could have hit the end rail against Dennis. Keep on keepin' on and keep playin' tough...Tom

I, for one, am in awe. It is refreshing to see you playing so well. Third ain't a bad number at all in that crew of players. Joss Tour is one of -- if not THE -- toughest regional tours in the country. CONGRATS!

In answer to my age, I'm fifty-nine as of last Wednesday. I've had some hard living years in there, hence I look a little older but I don't feel that way. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Joss Tour

Nice result! Could you tell us about the book you have for sale? I might be interested in checking it out:)

Dead Money, The book is a fiction novel-love story centered around the game of pool. Kinda like The Hustler, only my version. It's the first story that feature's both men and women player's. Far to long in the making as long as I'm concerned. I'm running a special right now. Look in wanted for sale forum. Right on Cue- Birthday Special.

Check it out, I loved it. I took one complete day off my normal life and crawled into Tom's fantasy world (20 years in the making), it was a day well spent. I could see it as a very realistic movie.

Good shooting this weekend Tom but to me it's no surprise, you're playing well. Keep it up.

Joe T.- Thanks for the kind words about my game and my story. See you Wendsday night and definately over the weekend. for the Joss event.

Joe's a fine instructer and his Racking Secrets have helped me considerably.
