Sugartree info

I am one of Eric's current teammates. He not only builds a great cue but he plays great as well. Unfortunately he often complains of not getting too much action here in Alamogordo.:thumbup::thumbup:

At this time he is keeping off the radar since his wife returned from Afghanistan. That is why you can't get in touch with him. I haven't spoken to him in almost a month as I wanted to give him some space with his family.

He is extremely sincere and selfless. A great asset to the sport as well. Just ask the guys from TAR......

His cues are worth every nickel that u pay for them and probably more. He's also a very good player. He actually takes pride in his work and cares more about making a quality cue than making a dollar. He came home to ohio a few months back and i got to play with a couple of his cues, very impressive. The hit is firm comparable to a bluegrass. He makes some of the best shafts that i've ever hit with, probably put them up against any cue maker out there. Very awesome guy to deal with and hang out with.

I think he's about as cool as they come. A figure out of Atlas Shrugged. His cues are also the triple nuts. I am honored to have one.

Can someone give me some more info on Eric Crisp from Sugartree? Where is he from? Does he play? How do you like the hit? Why are his cues so expensive? Does make cues with points and veneers? Why have I never seen a veneered cue?

I've owned a few Sugartrees and my present playing cue is a Sugartree as well. They are amazingly consistent hitting cues. They are up there amongst some of the best playing cues I've ever owned... Bluegrass, South West, Bender, Mottey, etc.

He does make cues with points and to date, I have only seen 2 of his cues with veneers. One was built from a Davis blank and the other was a titlist conversion.

As for why the cues cost as much as they do, all I can say is they don't cost that much from Eric. They sell for that much on the second hand market because people are willing to play for cues that play so well.

Thanks Mia. I think I'm gonna try and contact him and get me to build one. I have a friend as well who wants some. Don't care about the wait.

Have a good day.

Unfortunately Eric has stopped taking orders. The secondary market is one avenue. Another is the check New2YouQ's website. He has some for sale at different times. That is how I received mine.

I have owned a Sugartree for a few years now. I am rough on cues...it has some dings and scratches. I have played with and owned so many different cues in my life...always searching for the magic wand. Well...in my mind, I found it...and it is a Sugartree. Plain and simple...it does things and has a feel unlike any cue I have shot with or tried since.

And as far as selling my Sugartree, from my cold dead hands.

No doubt about it Eric is the nuts. Forget about the amazing cues he is just a solid dude. There is no bullshit involved with him.

He lets you know exactly where he stands. He builds cues because he loves it and it shows in the final product. Eric has been one of TAR's biggest supporters. I have told this story before butI think it belongs in this thread for anyone who hasn't heard it.

Not long after we got started Eric sent me a PM and said that he liked what we were doing and would like to help. He mentioned that he would start a cue for us. He had never met Chad or I and neither one of us knew much about him other than he made cues. I said thanks and never really thought much about it afterwords.

One day in the TARPIT at the 2008 BCAPL Nationals Eric walked up and introduced himself and we talked for a minute. He said "Hold on" and walked over, picked up a beautiful rosewood cue he was playing with and said "Here. This is your cue. Do whatever you want with it." We were floored and very grateful. Then he did it again this year. Altogether he has given us in essence $2500. Because he loves the game and believes in supporting people who he feels is trying to help it.

As thankful as we are for the material support I am more thankful that we were able to meet and become friends with Eric. If you get the chance to pick up an example of his work do it. If you you get the chance to meet the man and talk wood or cues with him definitely do it, you will have a good time and learn something. I do every time I have a conversation with him.
