Super Billiard Expo 2013

Allen, you are to be congratulated for your restraint, and measured responses here.

You are far more tolerant than many would be. I think the view from the high road is better, apparently you do as well.

Indeed, a consumate business man. Kudos to you Allen. You know what they say ... If you decide to get down in the mud, you both get dirty! Keep up the good work and don't let the naysayers get to you.

On the contrary,it is acceptable to me. It seems it is not acceptable to you. However dear sir, There is a difference between making a suggestion and directly knocking someone and using names. Your just defending your show which is understandable however, you are getting a bit personal too. After all your making all the money. We are spending it to support this Expo. We also feel your not taken criticism that well. Again sometimes the truth hurts. Other AZer's Knock the food, Knock the parking , etc. I only made a few other suggestions to try to show where improvements can be made. I must have hit a sore spot. If you want to continue with paper sings hanging from bed sheets and non inviting booths with the same look year after year, so be it. Believe me, I am not loosing any sleep over this. BANKS "The Pain Was Too Hard To Bear".

Truth be told, I think I speak for Jamie and Troy as well, the booth was never about making money for us . It was about meeting customers in person, talking cues, putting a face to that AZ billiards avatar. What ever we "made" we usually ended up eating at Sullivans or Maggiano's.

You certainly are not the only one spending . Many of us "vendors" drop big coin with cue makers at the show. I know that at the last SBE I attend I bought 4 cues and ordered 5. Jamie and Troy did at least that . So overall I think we contributed our fair share as vendors making all the money.

Well Jr. as you did not address everything I said, Conveniently you left out some issues. Besides that, In your words wanting the public to know the truth----How about having a booth at your Expo that didn't belong. Yes a booth that had nothing to do with pool what so ever. Am I not telling the truth about this ? A home improvement booth. As I passed by it a couple of times, no one was even in the booth. Does this have anything to do with why your so called floor plain was full ? You seemed to leave out that little detail. Again, something to back me up. You are trying to pull one over on the public. I guess you do want to go tit for tat with me. Well my weapons are loaded with facts to back them up. BANKS "The Pain Was Too Hard To Bear".

This is called business. If someone wants to rent a booth and paying you the money, you don't care if they are selling bags of poo. Money is money, rent is rent, and occupied booth is still an occupied booth. I personally thought this was a weird booth to have set up at a billiards expo, but it must work out for them, because they were there last year as well.

Your weapons may be loaded, but you better check because I think they is blanks, Banks. And that's the fact Jack!:)

Joe,

You claim to have attended BCA trade shows. Why do you think home improvement companies, which have no direct connection to the pool table or pool related accessories business, buy booth space there? It's a service some pool players use. A great way to connect with potential customers. Same with the Consumer Electronics Show and CEDIA. Some of the same home improvement companies.

Allen was incorrect in one point. There was one empty booth. Sure Man Cues. Suppose you wanted him to get up out of his hospital bed to take care of you?

Your "facts" still claim the world is flat. It takes someone with vision to notice their conclusion does not fit the real world.

Here are more Facts that you can wet your whistle on.---8,500 + Views over 185 Replies. And you said I did not hit a sore spot. At least I revealed legitimate points and with all of these views people can make their own Fair evaluation on the Expo. There was plenty of issues brought out here to allow viewers to make there own fair assessment. I do not wish any bad blessings to anyone , I just wanted to lift the blindfold up a bit. So I am such a bad Guy because I would like to see the Expo get better. Get better for all of us. Others had complaints but I am taken the full hit because I started this thread. I just have to say Allen is a great business man as the Expo's in the past were great. Further more he is a great pool player. I have friends that played him in tournaments who had great matches with him. I feel he helped the game of pool tremendously. Many people are taking what I say the wrong way , however everyone can see how professional Allen Sr. really is by not letting all this Hogwash bother him. BANKS " The Pain Was Too Hard To Bear".

You're being accosted because what you have to say is mostly unfair and not factual.

You make unfair comparisons and unfair characterizations.

And it's Allen Jr. that is here and answering your criticisms. Allen Sr. does not participate on this forum. You are however right that Allen Sr. is a great professional. He is good people, straight up, fair and runs a tight ship.

With that in mind you should think about some of the negative things you have said, how you have said them and consider that you have not been nice about this at all.

You are absolutely telling the truth, in fact, I'm glad you noticed! I'm not sure how you feel they don't belong, don't pool players live in houses? Has no pool player ever remodeled their home to make room for a new game room? Or dreamed of it at least? I know I'd love to have a gameroom added on :)

I am glad to know that businesses outside of the "pool world" are taking notice of the industry and seeing value in marketing to them. It will be a great day when more and more companies see the potential of promoting to pool players, perhaps one day Buick, or Ford, or Rolex will want to do the same, and the pool world will benefit.

The company you're mentioning is Power Home Remodeling Group, here is a link to their website. I'm not sure how they found out about the expo, perhaps someone in the organization is a pool player as well. And perhaps when you walked by, their representative had stepped away to use the restroom, or eat, or shoot a quick rack. Who knows? They definitely had a crew of people in attendance to work their booth, it wasn't just set-up and left unmanned all day. No booths were; in fact, it's in our rules that they cannot be.

There was also a chiropractor (Active Care Wellness Center) on-site offering massages - a great idea for people who are on their feet all day, on carpeting, tile, or concrete. I was happy to spot the proprietor, Dr. Joe Mazzeo, entering the building with a cue and case strapped over his shoulder!

The pool and billiards industry can only benefit from reaching "outside" industries, and I'm proud that these "outside" groups found us and brought their companies to the people. They see the value in it, and that's a positive. In fact, Power Home Remodeling Group has already committed to return in 2014, which is a good sign.

An earlier poster commented that he is also a contractor. You'd think that in the event that work was needed, a pool player would prefer to support another pool player's business, if possible. Like a friend helping a friend. We all share this common bond and love for the game, it's great to find others who do as well.

We were not trying to "pull one over on the public" as you imply. Quite the contrary, I'm proud that these organizations were there. When they came in, they were added to the website and announced via facebook just like every other vendor. There were over 170 occupied booths, a few "non-pool" related companies does not dilute the experience.

And again, you seem defensive that I want to go "tit for tat" for you... I am merely addressing your concerns, is that not what you wanted? The game is apparently rigged, I don't think there's any way I can do good in your eyes. If I don't acknowledge your statements, you feel we're not listening. If I do address your statements, you feel as if I'm challenging you in some way.

We did tell the poo-bag vendor that we were sold out :)

Some people will leave well enough alone. These are the typical AZer's that have nothing else to do and put their 2 cents in. Any intelligent person that reads this can see who the antagonizers are. To bad he did not have more cases to sell . That one went pretty quick for 39 dollars. Who knows maybe he sold it for less. BANKS "The Pain Was Too Hard To Bear".

No he doesn't want you to anwser his questions. He's a nit who wants to cry and complain and though no one has taken his side he some how thinks his opinions are gospel. That makes him king of the nit's lol

Kindly point me to the place where I can buy one of those cases for $39 and I'll be first in line.

I can tell you are enjoying your moment here. You poke and you prod a little, sprinkle in a few comments that are reasonable, and then flair away at someone or something. It's a classic AZB technique, one that can keep you from being banned for trolling, even though that's what you are truly doing.

Well played.

:-) So you don't consider that there were those of us who also attended the show and who might have different views than yourself?

I mean personally I worked it from 11am to 12 midnight each day with no time for lunch or dinner. Anything I had to eat or drink was done in quick bites here and there between customers. You want to talk about pain being hard to bear then try literally standing in my shoes for 13 hours a day at the booth.

Still I managed to have a good time and enjoy the company of old friends, make new ones, was able to see some new stuff, had some fun playing and thoroughly enjoyed the show.

I guess somehow my experience is less valid than yours?
