I posed the question last year, so I’ll ask again.

How many posters would be interested in sponsoring an AzB player/poster at the US Open? We did it last year. Thanks greatly to Don Purdy, he took the lead role and handled coordinating the money, hotel and I believe played a part in arranging air fair. Several others (sorry my age prevents me from remembering who) also contributed additional time and money to make this happen. Not to mention all the individual posters that coughed up 25 bucks to send the one and only “Rude Dog” to the US Open.

I’d like to see this become an annual thing, but I realize that not all people feel this way.

As I recall we had a process of nominating posters for consideration and then voted on by the sponsors.

Here is a link to one of last year’s threads regarding some of the comments and remarks about this issue.

But you’ll have to search for other threads to get the whole scoop.

So, is there any chance that we could do it again?

17 minutes and we have 4 already! Hey I think this could be much better than last year.

I can think of many posters that would be a good choice, but I'll reserve my nomination for later.

I'd really like to see Jimmy M make it this year. If I remember correctly he couldn't get the vacation from work.

Put in for it now Jimmy!

Koop

Once something is set up you can count on me for $25.

I'm in...

Count me in for $50. I'll also see if I have anything around that we can auction off as well.

And, I'm casting my vote for Jimmy M. early.

Okay, I'll do it but whomever I help sponsor better buy me a drink once I'M eliminated!

We can call it the "Save The Pool Player Fund". For less than a penny a day, you can make a difference!

Hey Jude,

You already have one coming at the Turning Stone. Hopefully it will be later rather sooner :-)

My 2 cents / $25

Since I have been there and done that, I would like to make some suggestions. 1 person should handle the cash. That person should post contributors twice a week. Someone needs to take the responsibility of posting the results as soon as possible from the start. I would also like to suggest that if we have AZ members who are going to play in it, the money should be split up between them. That way we have more horses in the race, which makes following the post more exciting for all of us. It would also eliminate the necessity of having a specific "NUT" to make.
Having said that, I like The One, vapoolplayer, Jimmy M., and anybody who is An AZ member planning on playing. JMHO
Thanks, Purdman

I plan on playing!

OK. $25 to Jimmy and $25 for Jude.

If someone has a list of qualified people who would like to participate, we should put a poll together. There are probably a dozen or so on here who can play at that level or close to it. Maybe if we get enough support we can at least help out 3 or 4.

Koop - Raised my donation to $50.

Under my plan, you would be included! We would put your funds in a lock box. The lock box would be kept in a secret location. Only two people would have a key to the lock box. If I tell ya who they are, I will have to kill you. Fair enough?
Purdman :)

Just don't tell me I have to go to Boston and beat out Tony Ruberto for this!

Koop, I suggested that we include AZ members who are planning on going anyway. How many AZ members do you think are planning on putting out that kind of cash to play? I am talking about hotel for 7 nights, air fare, food, $500 entry fee, transportation, etc., etc. You are looking at $2,000 plus. Kicking in $600 myself last year we only came up with $1,875. It also cost me another $1,500 to be there on 2 weekends. The experience was a most pleasant one none the less. Money well spent in my opinion. JMHO
