SVB Best 10-ball Break...not really

Most of the 1st and 2nd tier pros around the world have the SVB break down pretty well. Some have it perfect. Even Shane said, "Everyone knows how to do it now." Which brings me to something Dennis Hatch said on TAR podcast under his breath. "He's not the best at 10-ball, he has (Shane) the best 10-ball break." It will be interesting over the next year or so with most top players breaking the same as him, how far down the ranking list will he go? Johnnyt

Archer sure was breaking well last night for the most part...

Bustamante is my favorite breaker...

Once everyone masters the ten ball break, we'll hear about how ten ball is broken and we'll move on to eleven ball.

Why not just jump to 15 ball rotation and have the purist of the rotation games:smile:. Johnnyt

Actually, I think a good adjustment would be to play 9 ball with the 9 ball racked on the point rather than the 1- like the Earl/SVB match

if it goes to that the pinyos will win everything.
11 might be the way to go hard to break 11 ball.

Start a USA 15-ball rotation tour and keep every other country out...you, like a lot of the countries do to us. I'd like to know how much US purse money has been won by other countries in the last 20 years. Johnnyt

Agree with D.H. johnny. In fact I would rate Brandon Shuff's break

better than D.H. No doubt some may call me nuts.

As far as SVB droping, don't see it, the guy plays 13 hrs a day.

Wonder how much purse money would even be there if it were only our guys competing' "Ok whoever wins this tournament can lay claim to the title '180th Best Player in the World'!!"

I was in vegas recently and everyone I gambled with broke really well.
Shane is still the best ten ball player in the US, maybe these short races dont suit him

So do you think that these podcasts are giving away certain secrets that the pros have in their bag??

Ah, yes. Stated in true, "but 10-ball is nothing more than 9-ball with one extra ball" style -- completely ignoring the fact that the WPA's introduction of 10-ball was as a different game from 9-ball entirely (i.e. the call-shot rules you're so anti-enamored with, Stu). <yawn>

Why don't we get this over with, and just declare all short-rack rotation games "broken" (regardless of the rules-of-play -- which, again, we're conveniently ignoring), and go to full-rack rotation? I'd like to see that "add an extra ball" thing then!

That's standard in the UK and the rest of europe, I think. Much more challenging.

This is used on the ESPN Challenge of Champions too, if I'm not mistaken. Although racking with the 9-ball on the spot minimizes the wired wing-balls into the corner pockets, it now introduces a wired 1-ball into the side pocket using a cut-break.

That's the problem with the diamond-shaped rack; it's vulnerable to wired balls, due to the carom angles in the rack itself.

Good one! Actually, count me among those that feel that nine ball was never broken in the first place.
