SVB rumor

I just got off of the phone with Pat concerning this subject. I consider Pat a friend and one hell of a good cue maker.

Here's the skinny...................

Yes, Pat is making a cue for him. Yes, he will be part of Diveney's Crew as a player/sponsored by Diveney.

Pat and Joe Villalpando had talked about trying to set something up with Shane as far as Shane doing some exhibition type playing with people at the ISPA. Yes, Shane will be there. BUT ............ nothing is officially set up yet as far as that scenario goes as Pat has to talk to the ISPA and others about doing this officially. Pat wanted me to let y'all know this.

I will be going over to Pat's shop and taking a couple of pictures for Pat of Shane's cue so I can post it here for you all to see. It is a 16 point cue. 8 up, 8 down. Other details when I get to show you guys the cue for Pat. It should be done in a few days. I'll try to get the pics on here by this weekend for those of you wanting to see it.

I'm having Pat make me another cue for myself that will be done sometime this summer before I start leagues again next fall. It will my 3rd Diveney so far and I see a few more in my future as well. :D

All of this matches what I have heard now up to this date. If SVB is at the ISPA, then I can for sure see some matches w/ Jesse goin off that weekend also. Can't wait to see him play in person.

Pat Diveney also made my cue he is making a 16pt for SVB and if he shows up in IA the TAR crew should come to because there will be alot of action you got Jesse Bowman , John Kacharo, Josh Johhnson and possibly Barraks will be there to play for just the State tourney you will have 3 to 4 of the best bar box players in the us there it should be a blast sign me up:D

If the rumors are true then shane must have gotten cash right.con grads for him and thank god he didn't go with cu-tech or however you spell it .The world would have lost a great money player and gambler..:D

Well something must of happened since (the derby) I though shane was going to get paid by cuetech- Any cuemaker would jump, Shane wants a Joss from Danny Janes! Can you believe Danny said no. Jacoby offered at the derby to build a special cue! And another cuemaker at the derby wanted to have a line of cues. It has to be a deal with cash or cues for shane to sell- He's considered a world champion - sponsorship is all about the cash. mark

It wouldn't make sense for him if he wasn't getting cash... You are right. For a World Champion to consider committing to a certain cue, he'd have to be paid for it. A free cue isn't the same thing as sponsorship. Right on!

While I don't know the details about Shane's potential deal with Pat D., but I can tell you for certain, that MOST sponsorship with a cue company or cuemaker involves a personal playing cue, and possibly some additional cues to sell. Very few cuemakers or cue companies sponsor players to the tune of big cash, and/or expenses paid.

That may be true in the general world of poolplayers... but this is SVB. He is worth a lot more than that and it would be silly for him not to capitalize on that.

Don't forget Tommy Hernandez, Whitey Walker, Jamie Fenton, and Chad Vilmont. Has anyone heard if they are doin that Pro-Am thing again this year? That would be a killer line up.

I think it's great when a top player can land a nice deal with a production cue line to make some good money, but as someone that appreciates beautiful custom cues, I'm VERY happy to know that Pat Diveney will be making a cue for Shane.
It just pains me so to see a great player shooting with a cheap looking cue.

I can't wait to see pics of the new cue. Like all of Pat's work, I'm sure it's going to be beautiful.

What kind of weight if any do you think Whitey would need from Shane on a big table?

Knock, knock. Please at least ask for this in a PM. No offense meant, but I am sure Whitey doesn't want everyone to know how he plays on here. Especially considering we're talking about matching him up with SVB.

i'm going to bed now been up since 3am, i'm still on german time, i will call you tomarrow afternoon. I played Jay Helfert some 9 ball banks today, i just had a HUGE back operation and playing was brutal, but I was suprised how well I played all things considered, I got my nuts shot off but I did win 1 game the final total was 5-1 or 4-1, i think it was 5-1. Jay played ok, i'm glad to see he isnt taking much action his game is just to choppy these days. he can beat me anytime but against a good player i dunno  . Man is he gonna be pissed when he reads this.:)

And the trout rises to the bait......................... Kaplooie! not.

ISPA State Tournament

When? Where?

The tournament that was referred to earlier is the ISPA State Tournament in Davenport, Iowa, April 9-13th. There is a Pro-Am division that starts on Friday the 11th. It is open to anyone for a $130 entry fee, or $105 entry fee for ISPA qualified league players. It is a race to 8, 8 ball on bar tables.

I heard from a very good source that Shane will be there and I would imagine most of the Quad Cities players will be there since the tournament is in Davenport.

There is the potential for plenty of action and at the very least a very good state tournament, one of the largest state tournaments in the country, I believe.
