SVB vs Bowman on the bar table for $5000

So that's what Bowman looks like. Seems hungover in that pic.

No idea who wins, Shane already doesn't miss on a standard diamond. I guess this one will come down to who kicks more accurately and locks up the safeties tighter.

I know Shane is scheduled to play at the White Diamond's tournament in Lafayette, LA March 16 & 17th but I don't think Jesse Bowman is.

Please keep us informed about this match. A lot of people are interested in seeing this "flip of a coin".

I am working on getting more info from John Stich on the match on what they are playing.

How much pool has Bowman been playing as of late? Shane plays every day for hours, and this was one of the determining factors, I believe, in the Van Boening vs. Frost match.

What equipment are they playing on?

JAM - no offense to Scott, but SVB could take a month off and Scott play for 4 hours a day for that month leading up to a match and Scott would still not win.

I think if Scott were to hit tens of thousands of balls on a daily basis like Shane, Shane doesn't have to like it in one-pocket. I don't think Scott plays as often or hits balls as much as Shane, but I may be wrong.

About Jesse Bowman, Keith said if he were Jesse, he'd rather put his money in a little easier spot than Shane Van Boening, no offense to Shane. New Orleans is where one can score big bucks these days, and you don't have to play a world champion to score five figures, either.

Early line was race to 30 getting spotted 3 games, alternate break....still waiting on confirmation.

That's cause Shane will take almost ANY game, and still out run the nuts. If people wanna match up, all they gotta do is step up.

best,

Justin

Good post. The games Shane takes are there for others, too - if they're willing to take them, that is.

I thought this thread was about bar table action -- thus my response. I wasn't talking about one pocket or any other game.

And are the players in this putting up their own money? I made the assumption that with a casino involved, that was the source of the money. At the very least, I am sure that Jesse would be staked. And playing in Iowa, Jesse can sleep in his own bed that night. Keith probably also knows about the expenses of the road.

Finally, if Jesse wanted to win big bucks on a bar table all he has to do is make the short drive to St Louis. There is bigger bar table action here for him than anywhere else he could find.

Alt break, Bowman might have a shot. If it's winner break, SVB will throttle him, BAD.

I agree. I don't know how much Jesse has been hitting 'em. Last I heard, he was playing poker.

That said, he snuck in Valley Forge one year at the action table, and not many people knew who he was. Keith did and told me he was the best bar table player in the country at that time, in Keith's opinion.

I had thought he used to like to be incognito, but since the Internet, I guess that doesn't happen anymore. Here's my photo of Jesse that I tried to doctor up at the time to protect his identity. :D

The thread is about bar table action, but it is also about Shane as one of the parties; thus, the reason I referenced Shane's recent match with Scott in one-pocket. :grin-square:

I realize Shane is a great bar table player. I would like to see this upcoming match between Jesse and Shane be a good back-and-forth. :)

Jesse ain't no slouch on the bar box.

Jesse is no slouch on a bar table for sure. But Shane is like a god on a bar table. Remember Shane's bread and butter coming up was BB 8-ball in this area. He Played the Pollman Memorial tournament spotting the WORLD to alot of very good BB players and still wound up second. He gave 4 on the wire Oley in the finals. That's STRONG.

I don't like this game for Jesse if it's winner break.

The thing that would give me cause for concern, if I were Jesse, would be this. Let's say Jesse does win. Well, what do you think that will do to his future action?

Like Keith says, I can think of easier spots to start out with.

I got a hunch about this match, kind of makes me want to make a little wager. I haven't had this hunch since Calvin Borel in the Kentucky Derby, who got me 10:1 on my money.

I will be interested to see the odds on this match-up.

And Shane might be good on the bar box, cutting his teeth on bar table action, but so did Jesse. This might be the Show of the Year!

I watched their match a few years back at Big Dogs. While we were rooting for the Iowa boy and regardless that this was on a barbox, it was after this match that I gave a ton of respect to Shane. It's one thing to see him play on the stream, to see it in person multiple times now is a different experience.

I agree 110%! Hell, he practices harder than most people play for money! I fully believe that when his mind is focused on pool, and ONLY pool, he can't be beat.

I must have missed this match up. Anyone know the details and outcome? Where, spot, race, wager, and table.
Thanks

I missed it too - I know SVB played Alex. Didn't hear about him playing Scott but JAM has much better sources than me (and most others) so I wonder how bad SVB beat Scott playing one pocket???

I would be shocked to see this go down. PM what the match is and I might bet some on Jesse to get the ball rolling. He used to post here and is on many of the stream chats.

So sorry for the miscue in print. What can I say! I'm old and do goofy things like this sometimes. :p

The other night, I picked up my cordless phone and tried to change the channel on the TV. :o

As far as sources go, I do have few.

Truth be told, I've been so caught up on the Shane vs. Mike thread along with the OMGWTF blog that I was not thinking clearly. It is Friday, the end of a long work week for me. I need time away from the computer, big time. :o

Color me old! :(
