Is there a statement giving the reason(s) for the ban? If there was a clash of events, I could understand, if not, the ban is dumb.

Apparently you haven't been following this lame-ass saga. The WPA is basically scared shitless by MR/WNT and is banning players. Its not going to end well for the WPA as far as the pro game goes. All they're going to have is Chinese 8b when the smoke clears.

True, I haven't been following pool too much lately. More into trapshooting right now. Any ban hurts the game. Guess WPA knows what it's doing even though it's difficult to comprehend.

You give them WAY too much credit. Bunch of stuffed-shirt bureaucrats who are afraid of people pissing in their garden. MR/WNT has ALL the top players except for the Chinese 8b experts.

Bravo! As a living legend and one of the world's most visible professional players, Shane is taking on the role of elder statesman of the game and is showing great leadership as well as high principles. When Shane talks, people listen and when Shane acts, people pay attention.

Like so many AZB members, Shane is repulsed by the politics that continue to obstruct some of the world's best players from taking fullest advantage of the recent growth in our sport. In protesting by intentionally skipping WPA majors, he is leading by example, and let's hope some other WNT pros will follow his lead.

Shane was recently voted into the BCA Hall of Fame, and he just reminded us that he is also a hall of famer when it comes to tending to the best interests of his sport.

After watching Carambola 2003, when the manager says pool halls are where revolutions are planned, it feels more true today than ever.

SVB is not reading a line, he is starting geo political tensions.

Only American players can pull off a boycott.

What a crappy situation. He's also one of the only players that can afford to make any kind of statement, whether they want to or not.
Yes, this is a great point. It is quite a bit harder for players that have yet to achieve financial security to tag along and skip significant earnings opportunities in the furtherance of a principle.

Nonetheless, if the most visible and most marketable players act together, they could possibly force WPA's hand.

Standing with Asian players is a huge statement to the pool community.

Asian news is best curated through non Asian players impacted by poor policy making by governing bodies in Asia.

Asians have limited career choices and their own sports organizations are denying them access to pool competitions.

Without top Americans or pool players leading the charge criticizing poor policies, Asian players will always be silent when it comes to criticizing political/organizational leadership, its a culture that is trying to change. Asian communities will not openly discuss the escalation of riff between WPA and non WPA players.

True, but it's allot healthier of a situation than the voice the pros had in the US in the past three decades.
