So I just get in from a long night of sweating some "major" action..... Actually, it wasn't that long at all. Pretty much a brutal annihilation.
So I walk into the pool hall and see this kinda dorky looking guy practicing straight pool all by himself. I asked him if he liked to gamble any at straight pool. He claimed he was one of the greatest to ever play the game, he knows all of the pros, has beaten a lot of them, not to mention that he can "run hundreds" in his sleep.... (says he taught Efren a few things as well.. I kinda got sick of hearing about Efren and Jeanette, his "close, personal friends").
Anyways, so I said, "you didn't answer my question. Do you like to gamble?". He said he would practice a bit with me, but I was welcome to donate should I see fit.... I said, "No, Poindexter, I think you got me all wrong.... I've got a player I'll put in the box with you, single race to 200. Deal?"
He said, "How much do you plan on contributing? I still owe Danny DiLiberto some money and I need to know how much I can add to that...."
I said, "No problem, how about an even $1000?". He himmed....hawed.... said, "You got action."
Without getting into a play by play account of the entire night, the guy strung together a high run of 4, was pouring in sweat from his thinly stranned, balding head, and made excuse after excuse after excuse.... It honestly got tiring listening to it, but fortunately it didn't last hours on end.
To make it even shorter, my player wiped him out 200-14. It was over in about 2 hours, with my player making a few 60-70 ball runs, just as a good player should. I'm very proud of the horse that I put in, as after all she hasn't been playing that long and I just wanted to get her some action.
Here's a picture of the winner, shortly after her victory....
