What is SASE? Sounds like the British Special Forces or something. Really I don't know what that one is, tell me please.

Self Address Stamped Envelope.

Thought the SAS was the British Special Forces.:)

Actually Jerry I have the last Issue of Arizona Billiards News, (August 2007) that Mike published before it was sold. He had a "places to play guide" on page 26 that listed the places, number of tables, phone number etc.

Sadly Mike sold the paper, and that little resource went bye bye. Mike seemed to keep it current and i believe it listed over 150 Place in the Valley of the Sun.

If you would like a copy of the old guide, PM Me, and I tell you were to send a SASE, and ill make you a copy of Mike's old Guide at the Bank, and send it to you.

Yes I have seen your map, and it is not hard to find on your web-site.

Are you talking about the Valley Billiards News? If so, he didn't sell it, he completely closed it down. He published the full story on azpoolscene.com story. Him and I have spoken many times on the weekly tournaments and the maintenance nightmare of checking to see if they have changed, if they actually run each week, etc. etc. It's a nightmare.

So, I'm asking you if you want to do something constructive for the Arizona Pool World. You could keep an updated sheet for all of us and submit it to me every other week and I'll post it up for all the players. You could do in Word or Excel or whatever program you want. Let me know thanks!

LOl DUH! I guess I could have figured that out but I just couldn't get it. I was actually in the SAS back in England so I thought it maybe a new and improved version of the SAS. The ones that deliver mail in bad parts of town or something. :)

What I have Jerry is a Newspaper, the last Issue of Arizona Billiards News, (August 2007) that Mike Howerton published before it was sold.

That paper had a "places to play guide" on page 26 that listed the places, number of tables, phone number etc. Has a list of approx 150 places.

I can not do it as you said in Word or Excel, besides if I tried to read it, and type a copy if would be full of goofs. The best I can do is make a copy of the page at the BANK, as I do not have a Copy Machine.

Idea # 2 is for you to contact Howerton, as he may have it in as you say in Word or Excel. As he use to put the paper on his web-site monthly.

At this point if you want what I offered above in a copy form, as it was in 8/2007. PM me, and ill tell you where to send the SASE. Best I can do for you.

Thanks, but no thanks. All those tournaments have changed 50 times since then. A bunch of those rooms are not even in existence any longer and new places have opened up. The only good way to go about it is to start from scratch and get a list of places that have tournaments every week and keep adding to it. I post them all in the Forum on azpoolscene.com for people to post about them, good or bad, number of people, etc.

forget it.

Are you $hitting me?

I don't think you can afford the translators it would take to deceipher it.

Spellchecker won't help...

Even it, isn't powerful enough to crack the infamous "Coo Coo Code".

Rick S. honestly I think you blew this one as the ?OFFER? was to send Jerry a Xerox Copy of an Old Paper with room/Bar listings in the State, and FYI that is like a Positive, COPT, etc. So I am sure Jerry would have been able of reading it. Apparently Jerry would rather start from scratch. Oh well his loss.

I'd rather start from scratch than post a whole bunch of old information that is not even valid.

Coco, I think you can agree with me here, that you don't want to drive to a tournament that you read about in the paper and find out there is no tournament going on.

I know that Patrick is real busy, but more than 50% of the tournaments in his guide are incorrect. It's a problem. After you show up for 1 or 2 of them and the bartender looks at you like you are crazy and says, "Oh, we haven't had any tournaments for months." You stop using it as a guide.

To call each bar and ask about their tournaments, most will say, "Yeah, we have this tournament on this day, come on down." Then you show up and nothing. They want people in their bar. Most tournament listings are this weeks idea and hopes and dreams of what the bar wants.

So, if you have any tournaments that you go to, that are the same and run every single week, please email me and let me know AZPoolScene@hotmail.com. I have a bunch already listed in the forums @ AZPoolScene.com. Thank you for your help!

Word or excel, c'mon really. i was gonna recommend the chisel and stone, yet it might be a little expensive to send it and it might not fit in a SASE. lol

Oh yeah, and coco, here is a good start for ya....http://http://desertclassictour.com/schedule.html

If possible, when a list is compiled.....have an "opt in" feature that puts the impetus on the room owner (tournament operator) to "re-up" the ad, and if they don't..it disappears from the list. Also a notation from players/room owners/etc. that shows if it is new or established. Don't want to discourage new tourneys from being introduced IMO, as that may be a legitimate attempt at bringing in some 'pool' business.

The main thing would be (if it were my site) to take the monkey off my back as to keeping it current and place it on the attendees and/or promotors to keep it up to date. I'm not sure if that is possible or realistic though.

Or if you are going to really attempt to compile an accurate listing of all "goings on", then a cursory charge should be in place for your time and effort. Perhaps $5-10 per month for each establishment that wishes to be in your tourney guide.....nominal cost for them, but if you get a comprehensive list it could pay you for your time and effort.

Just some ramblings.....................

Again, you and I are on the same page. I started compiling a list and have been asking everyone on successful tournaments that happen every week. I have a list of about 30 that get 16+ players every week and the format (table size, game, money) hasn't changed in sometime.

I'm going to charge $5/mo to list 1 weekly tournament on my site, $10/month to list up to 3, and $15/mo for unlimited. If the bar/room advertises with me, I'll knock these charges off. I'm writing a web application for me to be able to login and update these tournaments at any time.

I'll be writing many new web tools now that I have the Website moved off the Yahoo server that Ron originally created it with. Now I can do my thing and develop it.

So far I have a few advertisers that are on board. Sweet Tooth Billiards, The Ox, Kitty's, Metro Sportz, NickersonCues.com, Bullshooters, Desert Classic Tour(Free as I'm supporting the tour), and a few I'm working the details out with still (UPA, Northern, Main St, Jimbo's, Exit 7, The Curve, etc.).

Thanks Tim, keep em coming.... Were you able to register on my forum? You can post ideas on there and keep an ongoing discussion of ideas. THANKS!!! Green Rep for you...

I normally call before I waist GAS, but funny thing is how many places the employees don't know what is happening other than on their shift.

You are again correct, and billiards Table talk is guilty also.

To call each bar and ask about their tournaments, most will say, "Yeah, we have this tournament on this day, come on down." Then you show up and nothing. They want people in their bar. Most tournament listings are this weeks idea and hopes and dreams of what the bar wants.

Think Metro Sports Bar, River City Pockets, and the Maverick fit into that catagory. Plus Kolby's has a Tuesday, and Sunday Tournaments that alway happen. The tuesday at Lolby's is a Modified/Wild Ball Open, and Fast Lenny can explain that Event better than I can as he is a regular in it, FYI
