Well, it looks like the rumor of his "retirement" is accurate. Just FB'd Tony and he said he has "retired from traveling" and has taken an auto sales position. Hope things go well for Tony and family and maybe we'll see him playing one-hole in the future.

Some people work for a living, some people play for a living.
Something tells me that T.C. may just be making a little side $$ w/pool. I can just see the guy after work at the bar with the other salesman:"You guys wanna play some cheap 8ball?"

At least he is being realistic about his families future. Benefits, Insurance, retirement etc...It's hard to do that if your not at least top 10 in this sport.
He's selling the T Rex custom cue Pat Diveney made for him, sadly.
Basically, this is why he's stepping away from pool.
As most know, he has tried to sell a clothing line and established a regional pool tour, but unfortunately, the income was not what he thought it would be. Meanwhile, he has a family to think about. I think he's made the right decision to play pool part-time.

Agreed...and he is still gonna be able to play at a very high level.
Probably not....life gets in the way.
Most know of someone that tells the story about how strong they played until they got married.

Yeah, but Auto Sales jobs are risky too, I imagine. Unless he is working for a large auto sales company, selling brand new cars, then if he is not able to sell any cars then he does not get paid. Seems a lot like pool. Hope he is as good a car salesman as he is on the pool table. Sorry, I just imagine that being in car sales is not easy. It is only a good living if you are really good at it. I do not know though. I wish him the best.
Really? A good friend and golfing buddy sells used cars and he knocks down around 200k/yr. Give you an idea of what you CAN make: the sales mgr. at a large GM/Chevy store can pull in up to 750-800THOUSAND/yr. Hell, the F&I(fin. & ins) guy makes 375-450k/yr. I think TC gonna do just fine.
Must be why they have some 80% turn-over.
My brother sells cars.
He was top salesman last year.
He's not rich by any means.
It all depends on the lot and your area.
To become a F&I man, you will need to be there for a while and be on top in sales.
Might not be as tough as pool, but it's not a cake walk either.
Might as well be a card dealer in a casino.

Wow, I had no idea car salesman made that much money. A person has to really know cars though, and be a good talker, and a good salesman. Not just anyone can do that type of job. I honestly do not know what I am talking about though. I know nothing about the car sales business. I wish I could find something to sell, that is high in demand (and could turn a really good profit), that I could be good at selling.

Yeah, I knew a guy (pool player, from my home town) who sold cars for a living. He was the best talker I ever knew. He could sell anything, it seemed. The problem was that he did not work in a really super nice car lot. Looked pretty crappy actually. After he moved away, I think that he got a job at a really big and nice car lot, selling brand new luxury cars. He seemed to really make it in the business.
There's SERIOUS money in selling used cars. They don't have to disclose what they have in one and profits can be huge. New cars are super competitive as one can go on-line and find wholesale prices and mark-ups. New car lots have to do big volume and move high-content vehicles like loaded pickups(STUPID profits), SUV's(same) and luxury vehicles.
