Tad Kohara

Mr Tad Kohara

One of the all time Greats has left us. I can't seem to have the words to express my sorrow and pain for a great friend, and great cue maker. God bless him and watch over his family.Amen. Rich Ford aka the skunk.

I am really sorry to hear the news. I only met him a few times and always appreciated how kind spoken and humble he seemed for someone with his skills. He will really be missed.

I have had the privilege of knowing Tad since 1967, and having had him make 2 cues for me ( both of which I still have ). I was last over at the shop in March. He was happy, alert, with his sharp wit, and at the shop most every day, with his family and overseeing the business - and I believe he was 83 this year. We should all be that fortunate!

Rather than sadness, perhaps we should be happy for a man who shared his art with others, lived a full and pleasurable life, and leaves a legacy of craftsmanship, honesty, and integrity that will continue through his son Fred.

Here's to you Tad - thanks for everything!

RIP Mr. Tad Kohara. I wish I would have had the pleasure of knowing you. One thing is for sure, TAD cues have a unique beauty that no other cues have and they play superb. I only new you from a few photos that I'd seen and I always enjoyed gawking over the beauty of the cues you made. I'm very saddened by the news of your passing.

Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends.

A true Gentleman

My sincere condolences to the Kohara family. Tad was a nice man and a true Artisan.
His legend will live on. Fred, I wish you the best in carrying on your family's good name and honor.

I was lucky to meet Tad and his low key attitude was remarkable.

Sincerely,
Barry Szamboti

Rest in Peace Mr. Kohara. I've only had two TAD's cross my doorstep for repairs in 25 years. They were for tips and an abuse case. The cues were very soundly made and the designs were unmistakeable. Those two cues gave me a profound respect for a man I never met but hope to emulate. Thanks Mr. Kohara for all you did for the billiards community and the world. You will be missed.

From "Hawaiian" Brian Hashimoto and all the guys from Hawaiian Brian's Billiards,
Our sincere condolences to the Kohara family.
Tads was the hottest cue in Hawai'i when Brian started using Tad's cues.
There will always be a special place for Tad in our hearts.

He will be missed for sure, but there is no denying that he left his mark on the world. RIP Tad.

Such sad news

What a shock. We never are ready to pass away. He was a master cue maker he had a style of his own. You could always know when you where looking at a Tad cue. He will truly be missed, and he was not only a master builder but a nice person to talk too. My prayers go out to his family and friends. R.I.P. Tad
