TAD Multi Layer Tips

Picked up my cue from TAD's shop, refinished quite beautifully considering how rough it was when I brought it in beginning of Oct.

While I was examining my cue and talking to Fred Kohara, he asked me to wait a second while he went back into the shop area to get something. This is what he brought out... Their new layered tip that they will be offering soon. He asked me to try it out and give him my impressions. I asked if he was ok with my publicizing them on the forums, he said he was ok with that. So here they are, all 11 layers of goodness with a red fiber pad... Soon to be released, TAD Multi Layer Tip!

I've been using one for the last few months, so far it hits really good. I think it feels a tad better than a Moori or Sniper (pardon the pun), but that's about all I've tried as far as layered tips go.

One thing of note is that it didn't mushroom much at all, which is great because I suck at maintaining tips.

Can't help noticing how the package advertising says "USED BY TOP PLAYERS" on a product that hasn't been released yet. Gotta love American advertising..LOL

I'd buy them just because they say TAD. The quality behind the name is advertising enough.

I'd be interested in hearing about the playability of the tip. I recently switched (some of my cues) from Moori to the 5289 Redline by Tiger. The Redline spins the HELL out of that little white ball!

I miss Tad tips! They had a two-layer tip that I loved! Only downside was that they were made of cowhide and within 2-4 weeks would pack down super hard & glaze like crazy. I was replacing tips really frequently - and my sponsor source ran dry...:(

Just because it is just now about to become available to the public doesn't mean it hasn't been available to "top players". I know pro golfers get to try out clubs (play them on tour) LONG before the public gets a shot at the "retail" (which may or may not be "like" what has been tested by the pros) version, if it goes into production at all.

So, maybe TAD has sent these tips out to pros, gotten positive feedback, and given them more before deciding to "release" them. Then again, maybe not...lol. Just saying that could explain the "marketing".

Technically it is, Roberto Gomez has been using them and likes them as well.

Tad had given my friend a test shaft with this tip that I tried out over a year ago. He wanted feedback before committing to bringing out these layered tips.

Also Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, CA now carries these tips if you would like to purchase them I think its like $21 for a pack of 2 or $11 for 1.

Do you know if there's anyplace to order them online?

Much needed. I have had 2 Tad cues and the original tips were INCREDIBLY hard tips.

They did make good break tips.
