I’m kind of surprised no one started a thread about this unless i’m blind and just missed it. we lost electricity last night so I streamed it to my ipad and I was entertained. I love history and I love pool so it was a good match for Me. I learned about great players I never heard of. It was worth the $6 rental on amazon for sure. I think what surprised me is this guy. I’ve seen him litteraly forever every year at the sbx at the omega kiosk. I’ve bought plenty from him including my predator jump and break cue this year At the expo and then there he was at acs nationals when I bought the black triangle cue ball lol I had no idea who he was. Gilbert Martinez..amazing player and now in the the texas pool hall of fame. It was just funny seeing him on screen lol I didn’t expect it. He’s always a nice guy and who I search out when I goto that stand.

what did you all think?

One of best people I ever saw play 9 Ball was a guy out of El Paso, TX. He use to hang out in practice area at BCA at Riveria. Say him play in Northern Lougge in PHX for 100 or 200, race to 7 or was it 9. Big Guy who moved like Balleria, Crazy Good. Jay Helfert said he was "FAT" Ralph Gonzalez. v Sure the guy is deal, as he looked so unhealthy.

I enjoyed listening to the legacy's talk. I bought it on my Apple Tv, so I will have it forever. You will have to be a Pool enthusiast to hold your attention. Very well assembled with past champions, that had to be a Major effort on someones part. The part that was amazing to me was how many left pool to raise family's and them came back to it at such a high level. All in All it was a nice Doc.

I knew em from yrs ago, he was a little younger than my self. Next generation.
Was at the Fleming International in FL this past month.
I saw em passing by his retail booth, I kinda recognize em.... I eventually said.
Do I know you, he smiled/yes.
I hadn't seen em in 30+ yrs.
Then over a two day period we talked about our past, him before his game came together in the 80's.
Him telling me, when he heard about me beating Strickland (1979/$2K)) before his game Totally matured.
Strickland tho, pocketed balls better than ANY player I've ever seen, but his table management then, was not yet fully there.
Me seeing his game when he was in stroke on a bar table was top notch, he had a GREAT swing.
Joe Alvarez tho, was a little better in his prime yrs in TX.
And Randy Jones was also at that time Very good, tho not Gilberts level.
I was happy for em when I found out he's in the TX HOF.
He told me why (health) he no longer could play, it was fun kickin' tires with em about the DaZe.

That's not how you spell loogie and it is a bad word to use for a business anyway.

Gil is a great guy. He and I played a few times in the old days and he was a beast, He has always been a gentleman, easy to gamble with, hard to beat! He and Jerry Prado where almost unbeatable on their favorite table.

Congrats to Gil!

I guess I don't know how to post a Youtube Video. It says Unavailable.I tried to just cut and paste the link.
Glen: A Youtube video is Media. Look at the pagetop bar of options and to the right of the Smiley-insertion option you'll see the Media option (so-designated when you hover it). Click on that option and you'll be asked to insert the URL of the video you want to post in the forum.

Arnaldo ~ So easy an old child (geezer like me) can do it.

The Fat Ralph i know from Texas is Ralph Cortez. Sort of a low-rent uncouth cat but could really dab it on the barbox. https://billporter.smugmug.com/Pool/Austin-1981-photos-by-Mike/i-d6pzwbg

Outstanding piece!!

Blind Purchased just to support, not knowing how good it would be was a gamble but oh well. It is a must watch. I am a fan of the history and stories these legends can share. Worth every penny in my opinion. Glad Gilbert got into the Texas HOF, known him for years and he is a class act in every way.

It's already been said but I'm gonna say it again. Spend the six bucks, sit down, and enjoy it. I was beyond impressed with how well it was done and grateful that it honored the players the way it did. I particularly appreciated how it didn't shy away from the gambling side of the game we love and did so without pushing "the dark underbelly" tone so many pool pieces do.
