Talisman

I hate to say it but yes.. Tony is a great guy and puts so much into his company but I am a very hard shooter and with the humidity here I have had them literally just come apart. Some when they where brand new others it took awhile. I now install them very cheap for those who like them...

Talismans

I have had one or two delaminate, but only during installation. Out of a dozen or so, I've had 2 with this problem. I think mostly the issue was a repairman who really takes pride in his works and burnishes the hell out of the sides of the tip. I think it was the heat from the lathe mostly that caused it. Great tips though. I have converted to using them exclusively.

too many...

I used to play with them and also I do tip repairs to all the players in my area and I stopped working with Talisman for that reason. The tips tend to dry and deliminate.

It's really too bad because when they are just installed they play really nice.

Yup!

has anyone had a talisman tip delaminate ?

As much as I love Talisman tips, I have to admit they seem to fall apart alot.

But I love the playability and the feel of Talisman, so I keep getting'em.

I have (9) Talisman Pro Medium Tips if anyone wants to buy them. These tips are domed. $6.00 each shipping included to United States only. Will accept PAYPAL.

I flat out refuse to install them. I heard the song and dance about one batch years ago that has now been corrected. I am not buying it. I have had several fall apart over the few years I tried them. I got some and they were terrible so it trashed them. Then customers would bring in their own tips to have me install them and they fell apart as well. I have not had a problem with other laminated tips falling apart so it is not the cutting or burnishing causing it. There are so many good tips out there I do not want to risk installing a tip with a history of falling apart. I generaly do not speak out on threads like this but these have caused me several problems over the years with customers blaming me for their tip falling apart. Just my 2 cents. Chris.

Years ago I used it as my standard tip. I really liked the hit...especially the soft. I had way too many come apart as well. They start out looking fine...then after a few hours or days...you'll see one of the glue layer lines become much bolder & darker. Thats the delam spot & chalk is getting inside causing the blacker looking line. Its not like I don't know how to install them properly either. In fact I've had at length discussions with Tony as to my install method...and he found no fault either. I was having more than 50% fail. Most players never even realize it either....until I look at their tip and see the delam line the gently push on the side and you can see the line seperate. I even pushed them on several top pros...until they returned rather quickly wanting it cut off. I no longer offer these....there are just too many quality tips currently that have no issues. Everest is my standard tip, as well I like Sniper, Molavia, Kamui. Just too many very good choices these days to take the risk.

NOT TO HIJACK THIS BUT..

I like how the Kamui's get all sorts of chalk between the layers and people tell me it is coming apart. been using the same one for 7 months everyday:D

Problems with Talisman

I bought 5 to try.. ALL 5 delaminated on me. I emailed Talisman and told them what happened. They said they would replace them but never did. I since then had a friend that had one they wanted me to install and try out. That one delaminated also. Suffice, to say I haven't had much luck with them.

I have no issue with them. I used one on my old Kruger for 6 months, which I put on myself without a lathe.

My current player has them on both shafts - mounted with a lathe. They are still fine.

Regards,

Detlev

I"ve used them on several cues and never had one delaminate even though I'm a novice installer. I'd guess I've played with a dozen different Talisman tips and never had a problem.

Not a problem

I have hade the mediums on several cues for a couple of years and neve a problem. I like how they play still.

The one on my OB1 is still fine, but I don't use it anymore. I played about 2 months with. However, I noticed that OB1 cues now come with Everest instead of Talisman. So, there must be something to it.

Jim, didn't you bring 2 of these tips to me, to have them installed ( a Schon, if I remember rightly)? If I remember right, one of them flew apart when I was shaping it. I replaced it with one of mine. I too, have had delamination problems & will not use them, at all...JER

I use to use Talisman Med. until about 4 years ago when I switched to Sniper. Never had a problem with Talismans delaminating.

When I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago I was talking with Royce about the OB1 I purchased the previous year. He did advise they were now using Everests as their standard tip versus Talisman. He didn't really say why though....

thank u for the replies, the talisman on my ob1 delaminated and our local cue guy replaced it with a sniper because of the problem. I was just wondering how widespread the problem was or if it was just me,

I've installed about 50 of them in the last 2 years, and haven't had 1 problem. Unless they delam., and they don't bing it back to me, then I wouldn't know.
