Taom Chalk

V10 fans may want to take a look at the new branded chalk from Alex Pagulayan. It's supposedly made in the same facility as Taom, has the identical colour of V10, and is of a traditional cube shape.

I cannot say if it shares any other V10 attributes other than colour. However those who like to experiment and enjoy V10 may want to give it a go
I have a cube of it ordered will report back once it arrives. I don't need it since my rounds of taom are still plenty full but I like trying stuff.

the green seems more like the v10 described as "creamier"
the blue they advertise as more "gritty"
look forward to your review....(y)
They are definitely made by Taom and I don't expect any difference other than the shape. Even though the blue is described as more gritty, they are most likely implying that it is more gritty than the V10, but, it is still a very clean chalk as has been my experience with the Pyro. When using either one, I always only need to chalk once per rack, 8 ball or 9 ball. The only other time I might chalk up is if I miscue due to my own error and just want to even up the tip. I'll confirm my suspicion when I get it.

The only thing I dislike about Taom V10 is the round shape. I did find a great chalk holder that will hold it securely on your belt or pocket, and also comes with a square chalk adaper:

A little update on the chalk holder I linked to above:

I just discovered that the square leather chalk holder included with it is a perfect, super-tight fit for Taom chalk. I’ve finally solved my “rolling away” problem.

Well I got my green Pagulayan chalk today. I've not used it yet but upon opening and giving it the sniff test, yep it's V10. I'll see what I think once I start using it but the smell is 100% identical to V10 and it's the exact same color.

Taste it too!

$20 ea for 4 or $18 ea for 10 isn’t bad, especially since the cube shape should be significantly more volume of chalk than the cylindrical shape (assuming same width and height).

I wish my mail came this early. Mine will be here around 3:00pm CST. I ordered the blue (Pyro blend).

Please report back once you get some playtime in.

Both the Pyro and the Pagulayan weigh exactly .5 ounce. Similar in height and the Pagulayan appears to have a tad more surface area.

Now that I think about it, is it no coincidence that Taom's symbol is a "Lion"?

IMO 100% it's Taom V10. I don't mind the round shape of V10 but this is ideal for guys who like square chalk. It's not as tall as a cube of Masters but it's the same footprint.

Goes on the same, just as clean, same color, smells the same, even the wrapper is the same material as the V10 and made in Finland.

I'll probably buy one as a back up If I can find a piece here in China, I'll keep it for when I finally finish my current piece sometime in the next decade lol

Just as an aside: I suddenly realized a compensating advantage to the round shape: the edges wear evenly as it is used. Maybe another reason it seems to last longer (?)

Sucker born every minuet but not concerning this new chalk. Gotta say after more that 50years of using Masters chalk I am amazed with the new Taom
V10 product enough that I ain't looking back. I received the stuff a few days ago and before play, I cleaned the table a couple of times. Vacuumed , then damp
cloth wipe down and let dry for a few hours. Used the polish compound to clean the balls and them micro towel finishing. After about 4 hours of play , my hands
were cleaner than I had ever seen. My table played so smooth , it was like playing on glass. Had to back to back runs over 50 balls and was well pleased with
how the table played. There was a small bit of grime where I lay down my bridge hand, but after cleaning the table a couple more times the hands are clean.
Seemed like the cue ball drew better than before also. The 860 HR is a bit coarser than regular 860 , making draw a bit tougher.
The chalk goes on like a paste and doesn't have crystal like particles falling from the chalk , like the Masters does. I have played many years and at a speed
at one time that some thought was exceptional . This chalk is exceptional , and expensive, yep, but figure that after the cleaning that you do for the table, and then not having to do that as much this chalk may save money, and the playing surface plays like glass afterwards. Have played about 20 hours since receiving
the product and the chalk looks like it is still new.
My 2 cents issued
I have used the first piece of Taom V10 chalk for a year now and probably have 6 months more to go
