Anyone want action? I want Alex +24 for $100. According to SVB this is a poor bet but I am a sucker with my money. :)

I hate to assume ... after throwing accolades Alex' way he doesn't say which way, hummmm (playing devil's advocate here just for the fun of it)!

I never even thought of that.

I will take SVB +24 for $100 instead in case that is what he meant, I totally want to be fair in this. :)

Actually, as I stated, the pockets on my buddy's table are very tight but they play properly. Meaning, if you shoot down the rail the ball will go in. It doesn't rattle around. My point was that I think SVB and Alex will overcome the tight pockets pretty quickly since the the Diamond they are playing on looks like it's set up extremely well and the pockets are cut right.

But hey, I'll pass the message along to Ernesto and Oscar and tell them they have no idea what they're doing.

Actually, for a tight pocketed table, Ernesto's and Oscar's will play easier. It will accept balls easier with the angle of the facing because the angle of the facing is angled for the balls to rebound into the pocket.

Glen's is angled good for a diamond because with the tighter pockets and deeper shelf, the rebound isn't as wide and well struck balls actually fall better than on a 4.5" corner diamond.

The wider facing angle on glen's mean that it's easier to hit the pocket, but the narrower facing angle on Ernesto's means that if you hit the pocket, it's almost assured of going but it's a little more difficult to hit the pocket.

I've played on both tables. Ernesto's four inchers and Glen's four inchers and I have to say that for enjoyability of play they are about even.

Jaden

Let's put it this way, if I had to choose my favorite table to play on, I would have to say it's a toss up between these two tables. That is, Ernestos 4" Gold Crown and Glen's 4" Diamond, only if you consider a diamond with the redone rails that let them bounce a little more true. I still prefer a Gold Crown's rebound angles to an old Diamond.

Oh, ok. But, if the cheerleading gets to be too "rah rah" for TAR -- especially while offering score updates during the actual match itself, we have to call it:

cmbwsu = carefully measured brownnosing with stream updates

:p

I take that as constructive criticism ... are you referring to updates on AZ or? We're always looking for ways to improve and keep the sport in a good light. If what is perceived as a good thing but turns out to be counterproductive one must then instill the credo: "This my final decision is not necessarily the last one I'm going to make."

Streaming, moderating, reporting of same is still in the "learning in progress mode". In order to get things right from all perspectives all the rippling effects need to be known. No brown-nosing, just a stalwart zealousness to promote our sport using the best thing out there at this point in time=live streams.

TAR match

I can't find the time of day that these matches start...????
Can anyone help with that info, as I don't see it stated anywhere on TAR's posters...????
Thanks.

Bob:

Relax! I just took the opportunity to razz ya, in a good-natured (and not to be taken seriously, or "read between the lines") way. It's refreshing, actually, to see someone like yourself active and enthusiastic on these boards. It's infectious, too -- and that's always a good thing.

Keep on keeping on -- your live-stream updates and notifications are among the first I personally go to.

I can't say why, but Yang's dropped quite a bit in the world rankings this year - #104 now versus Orcullo's #1.

I haven't seen Yang play enough to have an opinion - but those Taiwan players haven't done too well over here.

Chris

Yang quit pool recently for roughly a year and a half and started competing only recently. One of the most talented players I have ever watched but seems to lack the dedication - always complaining that he isn't getting paid enough and professional pool is not career that can give him a future (which he makes a solid case for). Not sure if you remember Hsia-Hui-Kai, he was arguably better than Yang in the early 2000s and was definitely one of the best players in the World. He quit pool entirely in the mid-2000s and became a financial analyst- which sadly pays more than a top pro pool player, and is more consistent as well.

Thanks for the information.

Did Wu ever get his military obligation straightened out?
