TAR 25: Hatch vs Dechaine Presented by OB Cues sponsored by Simonis Cloth and CSI

I just hope based off the barking that has happened in the past on AZ about these 2 great players. That the real competition is in playing ability and not other BS. I am sure that Justin and crew have let the respective players know what is expected of them as far as behavior is concerned and professionalism. I wish them both the best of luck. But I really think if Mike keeps his cool and plays to his ability that he can chop the hatchet man down a notch. I am just looking to see a really good match w/ intensive playing from both sides. Good luck to everyone involved I hope this is highly successfull for TAR.

i like mike Dechaine in this. i think his game is still not fully developed yet and he can still hang in there until the end with big boys and win. In couple more years i see him and shane in some great battles against each other.

True enough Brett, but whats next after that ,6x12?Oh god I hope not,i have enough mental issues on the 9footers:smile:

Nah, a 10-foot with the same size pockets as the current TAR table and you are GTG for the life of this sport. That table will test anyone and you will see who the best player is now or 20 years from now. A 10-foot table is PERFECT for pool, the people in the time of Greenleaf had that much right.

all this 10 foot stuff is all because earl trying to get an edge on shane, just like his all the gimmicky stuff he does now. 9 footers are fine in my opinion, i didn't see shane try and get earl on a barbox because he thinks he would have an advantage.

tall people and shooters love ten footers for what you gain in one aspect you lose in another more area less balls tied up bigger lanes for position I think the 3 options we have now are enough

This is weird. My Second favorite player to watch vs my second least favorite player to watch.

It's like taking a sleeping pill with five hour energy.

I'll be tuned in though.

Since you are helping out people who haven't been following to closely
Dennis Hatch didn't just qualify for a recent Moscni Cup he was the MVP. As far as winning every Joss Tour stop, Bucky was honored as the Joss Tour player of the year last year, not Hatch but he does win a lot of them.
That stuff about Mike Dechaine being heir apparent he just doesn't play in that many of them. Just helping out people who haven't been following to closely

Ah yes, the "Mr. One Up on You" shows up. I suppose there always has to be someone that is the life of the party, lol.

Yes, you are correct, Hatch was voted Mosconi Cup MVP. I'm sure there are plenty of other accolades that I didn't put in my post i.e. 2nd at US Open, #2 ranked player on the Camel Tour, etc.

YEs, Bucky S. was POY on the Joss tour in 2011. He won, due to having the most points (even though he nvr won a stop in 2011). Hatch doesn't play in every stop, like Bucky, but seems to win almost every one he enters. The same could be said for Dechaine; only enters a few but wins most every one he enters).

Well, what else did I not include? :p

If this is trying to get an edge on shane how would you get an edge on orcullo , yang, bustamente etc...

TAR is really an innovator. If our sport ever gets legs, TAR will be well positioned to take their show to TV. Great job, Justin.

I *cough* STILL love Earl though. I know the chances of watching Earl on TAR again is about the same as surgically removing a gnat's nuts with a butter knife and not smashing his abdomen, but I hold out hope.

If Earl had his own reality show, it'd be a #1 hit. If people watch Snooki, they'll watch Earl talk about shooting someone's liver out while doing 1000 situps while wearing his gear. They should send Earl to a pro golf tournament just to get into an argument with a pro golfer on which sport is tougher. I'd love to watch Earl tell a pro golfer they'd be broke if they had to make a living in pool-- and how golf ain't THAT hard if he don't even play it seriously and has won his club championship.

I just realized I typed two paragraphs of fantasy-talk.....siiiigh.

That's about it, and thanks for helping out those who haven't been paying close attention.

Jumping Joe,

I wish you were not so cynical.

There is a lot of idfference between getting $1,000 or getting $4,000.
This is not an exhibition - the players will try hard to win.
That gets them more money, bragging rights, and a future match!
If any of the players do 'chop', they will both be banned from any future events - and please remember that includes CSI events.

If the players think they can 'get away with it' - they should know better. The truth always comes out.

It is just not true what you say: "may I say most of the time the 2 parties will just agree to a 50/50 split".

So how about some encouragement for the concept?
Mark Griffin
Jumping Joe,

Thanks for the nice thoughts.

Chopping ruins pool and the players are going to have to understand that they are the losers.

The pro players in US are starving! If they elect to 'chop' in one of our events, they will probably have to find a new occupation.

They will be banned from TAR events and CSI events.
That covers a lot of ground: US Open One Pocket, US Open 10-Ball, Jay Swanson Memorial, US Bar Table Championships, all BCAPL regional events and banned from amateur league play.

PLUS other future events we are working on.

I hope no one tries . . .

Mark Griffin

You know, in all honesty, it's pretty hard not to be cynical about pool sometimes, given everything that has happened to pool over the years.
I think for some, skepticism has turned into the norm after years and years of the promises, and the subsequent let downs.

Although it's nice to see you guys trying to change things for the better.
Great idea, great format.

But at the same time, with the above statements about punishing "the chop", how exactly can someone be sure what happens?

If there is a chop, how do you prove it? Especially to the point that you are willing to ban them from other events.

If there isn't a chop, what's to stop some jealous players from starting rumors and throwing these two guys under the bus, for a chance at a couple tournaments without them involved? Or just for the heck of it to get their jollies.
You know how pool players are with that type of thing.

It would be nice if there were a high degree of integrity in the game, but at the same time, there really are some treacherous people in this sport.

I like the idea of punishing treacherous pool players. I just don't think it's so straight forward and easy to prove, especially when the instant there are accusations levied against someone, all sorts of character witnesses come out to defend them.

Just some food for thought.

Thanks again for making this match happen.

So whats the answer? Just not do anything because someone might chop? If thats the answer why ever do any pool event because theres a chance some idiot will screw it up? Only way to be sure is take off and nuke the whole game from orbit.

I dont agree with that. The guys we are dealing with want to be treated as professionals. We are more than happy to do that with the understanding that along with that comes responsibility. There are no secrets in pool. It all comes out eventually. If someone is stupid enough to risk getting barred from half the events in the US over $1000 or so they are stupid enough to talk about it and we will find out.

I hope you are right.

I was just pointing out that knowing the truth, isn't always as cut and dry as it seems. That's all.

Good luck with everything.

I want the 10-foots with tight pockets to become the norm in professional pool and TBH after the last TAR that Earl was in I don't care if he ever gets to play a single match on one against anyone ever again. Forget the whining, forget the sharking, the guy gave up right at crunch time. I could not care less if I ever see Earl play another match. I still want to see pro pool played on 10-foots with tight pockets though.
