TAR 27: Bustamante is Waiting....June 1-3, 2012

Mike here is so free advice.... Sometimes its better to not say anything than to say the wrong things.. Do you want to be spoken to like that?? Are you better than everybody else (on and off the table) in the world??

I know its hard to swallow at times but if your pride or ego is bigger than life itself its gonna haunt you. You are gonna push everybody away from you.

Hell I hate to say it but when I was playing my first match (BTW you where watching this match front row and center!!) at the TS this past December may opponent was using a cut break the whole time!! A break that Zuglan himself banned from the tournament. Did I get up and say anything? No I didnt!! Was I annoyed about it?? Sure but really??? Really??? Instead of complaining to the ref or Zuglan I started to use the cut break aswell. I played two more matches after that and when my other opponents where breaking flat on the one ball so was I.

Do you follow me here???

Flaming each other is not doing either one of you any good. This is teenage drama at best and should be edited out of the thread. (IMO)

The matches are going to be awesome. If I have the time in my schedule I will be purchasing the streams. Thanks TAR for sponsoring these events.

You call it teenage drama I call it the thing that pushes many people I know away from the game. That being the fact that when certain guys can run two racks in a row they believe the world owes them a living and expect to be treated like professionals without acting like one.

Frankly I have had all I can take it. I'm sick of it. If that makes people think I'm into "teenage drama" so be it. Come work with me for two weeks. You'll be thinking I'm a total retard for dealing with it takes to do things in pool in this country. You would probably be right too.

I hope you do watch the next couple of matches. They feature the type of guys that are the sole reason I hold any hope at all for pro pool in this country.

word!!

I saw the Busty /dechaine match and I was curious why Busty seemed upset, now I know why,but its not the arrow its the Indian, Busty plays lights out with anything:thumbup:

Does anybody think HAtch acted like an angel??

Does anyone trashing Mike here think Hatch acted like an angel? He tried to intimidate him and push his buttons throughout the 3 days as expected. Yes Mike reacted to it in a way that makes him look bad. Why doesn't Hatch catch any flack for instigating the whole fiasco? I like Dennis, but the man has been a bully since he was old enogh to stand, just his nature.

Bottom line both the players hate to lose and react to it in negative ways. I saw the Bustamnte/Dechanine Fat Ball 10 ball match at Derby city and Mike showed emotion there, borderline whining. Busty just smiled and hit a top gear while Mike was upset.

Mike don't let people get the best of you. When they sense weakness, and know how to rattle you, it will just keep happening.

I hope Dennis comes to the Joss stop in Providence in 2 weeks. I'd like to see you both play again and just see who the best man is that weekend.

Both players show a lot of emotion, especially when things aren't going their way. Mike is young, he says he knows he has this problem, but doesn't seem to care to try much to control it. I guess time will tell if he decides it is in his best interest to be able to channel the frustration into something more positive or civil. Hatch is older, I doubt he will change much. He knows he beginning the downside of his career and he will probably not change.

Other sports (albeit more sucessful ones) have tolerated the same type of behavior, McEnroe and Connors, in tennis. And many in the other major sports. I think the promoters can handle it however they see fit, however, they should realize these guys are the show. I know there is a learning curve here. Choosing the matchups where such problems can be minimized (you know the personalities by now). Make rules and explain very clearly before hand, such behavior is not to their's or anyone's advantage, and will not be tolerated. And have appropriate penalties. Of course some emotion is a positive for viewers.

TAR's format is a good one and seems to be popular with most fans and players. I know Justin has had a difficult job with some of the player behavior in these, but that's why they pay him the big bucks. :D
I love it that Justin shares a lot with the fans, but maybe these type of problems (with player behavior) are best handled privately, for everyone's benefit. I think TAR is on a good road and that these are minor bumps. You are making great progress, IMO. Keep up the good work !!

Btw, I don't like to complain anymore. My reputation is terrible. I didn't want to add to it by calling him out. Believe it or not I try not to be cause trouble.

I am just curious do you think Mike would have acted right if he were playing Shane or Busty? Did he or Hatch lower themselves because of the other? Just curious if one guy pushed the other guy over the edge or just two bad people to put in the box all together.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!!!

TAR, from a fan's point of view at least, IS Pool in 2012.

Also, I don't live in the States so have never had the opportunity to say hi to Mike at a tournament. Does that mean I can't be a fan? For a professional sportsman, that to me seems the most worrying comment of all. I have to make a judgement somehow, good or bad.

I still like Mike's game...

...I just prefer TAR's.

The most appalling thing was Mike mocking Jcin's pool game.

I watched in horror at a league match 10 years ago when a guy on the other team got into it with a guy on my team and started saying, "Your game is WEAK!" repeatedly which it was but I have not witnessed another man directly tell another man that his pool game basically sucked up until reading this thread.

Hope you upgrade your social skills Bra.

I believe Dennis was saying just that (Mike's game is weak) when he said "I can't lose to this guy". If Mike played anyone else it would never have gone down like it did. Still Dennis gets no ill will here?

Hate to have to call it like it is, but this is what happened. Everything after is just social posturing in the pecking order...and yeah Mike is the new kid in town. Some of the older guys don't like it. Maybe they need to bring their games to play instead of resorting to sharking while playing on a professional platform.

Mike I know your game. I saw it with Dennis. I refute your statements and you pick some other small thread to pull never admitting you could possibly have any culpability because someone else made you act like an ass. I'm not going to play it. I don't have time.

All I know is the great majority of your peers want nothing to do with you, (despite what you think its not because they are jealous of your game or scared of it...its because you simply piss them off at every turn) most in the industry think you are a petulant immature kid who has some talent but is not worth fooling with. Keep on the path you are on Mike. See where it leads. I'll leave you with a lesson "Big old Justin" has learned from experience: When its you against the world...the world wins.

Stop being a douchebag. You will be amazed at how much things improve.

Wow so in otherwords you and your kind ARE the world Justin? I do understand Mike's frustrations here, showing favortism to one player is not where it's at nor is it good for business. Mike has alot of talent, as for the phenolic tip cue I am sure that Busty' did not know it was banned but he should have. If a player does not make it to the players meeting then they should not get special treatment. Just for the record Mike - Justin made a post here on AZ saying he had found $2,000.00 for John but that John had turned it down for our 3rd TAR rematch. He says that had John accepted then I would have been given the same amount of cash for an appearence fee but my name was not mentioned in his original post, this is Justin's subtle way of letting the public know who he would like to see win. This is just all too familiar behaviour from the world and their little popularity contest/nit behaviour, their subtle form of showing favortism is repulsive. If your going to make a monetary offer on an open forum and your the promoter - make sure both players names are mentioned, if your going to loan equipment to a specific player make sure it's ok with both players. Or else YOU Justin will look like an overbearing pig. I realize Justin that you may have not had any ill intentions when loaning Busty the cue but what bothers me and maybe others is that you don't even think it's in order to ask both players before doing so. But I forgot you are the world.

Justin, I really want to thank you and everyone involved with TAR! This sport needs more people like you! You go above and beyond so everyone can enjoy great pool! While everyone else is b$&@&ing and complaining TAR steps up and does something about it! I've supported TAR from the beginning and will continue! Again thank you Justin!
