TAR 35 review

I wonder if they'll have anything on the light...

I don't wonder if there will be anything on the rail though! It might be rather large too...

Although I admire the way Dennis conducts himself, I gotta pull for The Kid. Whether his break will be enough to help get past Dennis is a tough call. If I were handicapping this I'd give Dennis a slight 7:6 line advantage. I hadn't checked the action room - I ought to.

Dennis and his backer are looking for more action on this match. That much I know. You have to be there to bet with them though.

A win for Shane would really go a long way toward cementing that "Best Player in the World" title that people can't wait to assign to him.

Dennis is probably the single toughest player in the world to beat right now, even in Shane's preferred format.

I'll definitely be watching this one, and if Shane wins, I'll start the "Best Player in the World" thread myself.

On the TAR podcast Shane said Busty gives him more trouble than Dennis. I hope Dennis didn't hear that. If he did I think Shane is in for a good beating. Johnnyt

I hope he heard it. I hope that elevates both games, playing for pride in addition to money. I think Dennis has the edge right now.

I hope this is available for download. I don't have time to watch it this weekend.

I believe Justin said it would be up for VOD, but don't quote as my hearing and memory at 72 is getting bad. Johnnyt

It will be.

To maintain the value of the live stream it will probably two weeks before its posted for VOD.

To Shane's credit, Warren Kiamco, who is a veteran filipino player (and a damn good one), told me recently that Shane is the best American player to ever come over there and challenge the top players. He said Shane is the only one who has played and beaten the best filipinos on their home soil.

May not be true but I heard Johnny did pretty well.

I asked Warren about Johnny and he told me that he did not play all the top players like Shane does. He ducked Jose, Efren and Francisco and beat some of the other guys.

I've been reading Jay Helfert's posts for about eight years now, I know who Kiamco is. ;) Cool to see him speak so highly of Shane; SVB now is definitely a few steps above the guy who won the US Open in '07.

I remember hearing of Nick Varner going to Manila and beating Efren in the early 90's, pretty badly if I recall correctly.
