TAR 39 - Efren vs Shane!

Have'nt played in about two years couldn't tell ya the last time I watched but I wont miss this one. one more chance to see the master in action....love it...

If efren sweeps all 3, underdog bettors and seniors everywhere are gonna celebrate.
It'd be proof positive that over 50 doesn't mean your pool game has to go to hell,
and that knowledge can sometimes trump execution anyway.

Definitely be watching all 3 days of this one. Love to see something funky like Rotation on TAR.
Hope Shane gets well versed in the rules and there aren't too many "I forgot the rules" fouls,
which happened in dennis vs. appleton a couple of times.

No Ball in Hand Rotation please!! The game is better with the BCA rules of incoming player having the option after the foul or with the filipino rules.

I wish 8-ball would replace 9-ball. Then it would be "all-around of games with all 15 fricken balls on the table".

Are they using the Magic Rack?

I think that Efren may surprise many people in the 9ball race, if they are using the magic rack (they usually do on TAR). I believe that the Magic Rack puts a premium on the breaker's control. And "opponent racks with triangle" shifts the premium towards power while maintaining some control. Efren has been off and on with pool for the last years. First, I think he had some back issues (he still looks to be moving gingerly around the table) and then politics (his "day job"). I know this doesn't give Efren an advantage, but it reduces SVB's advantage. It just depends on how much Efren has toyed around with the Magic Rack break (remember he chose the game, and he's no dummy). I saw a recording of him against Wu from a couple years ago. He pretty much put Wu in a coma. Wu thought that Efren was getting lucky. ;)

I do agree with most here, that the longer the match, the more advantage to the younger, healthier SVB.

Daren-assumes that Efren has a surprise up his sleeve.

If Efren had his choice he should have considered three cushion ahead of 9 ball.

sorry for the ignorance, but what are the exact rules of full rotation? It isn't just who makes the 15 ball I assume. I don't think I've ever seen full rotation with these rules

The basics...balls played in rotation (order), each ball counts as its number, I.e. 1 ball worth 1 point, 10 ball worth 10 points etc. Total of 120 points available each game. First player to 61 points wins the game, ball in hand is behind the headstring I believe.

^fouls are different though in Filipino rotation. If your opponent fouls the ball, you can either shoot it as is; or you may also choose to shoot from the kitchen where the object ball will be spotted.
