I was in the middle of the discussion and as can happen when these things are in the early stages there were some misunderstandings or mis communications. This game was made in chat rooms and over email. I havent talked to Darren once on the phone.
I thought that Darren had agreed to play 9 ball, he thought he said 8 ball. When we figured out what happened (that we were not on the same page) I went back to Scott and told him what happened. Instead of just walking away Scott was willing to work something out and Darren was willing to come off the 8 ball only set. Both guys are monsters and both guys came off of a game many consider a big advantage for one or the other and are playing a format neither have tried before.
Making these games is not an exact science. People get things crossed up in the beginning or change their minds. Just like in any negotiation. The main thing is both guys took a tough game. No whining they just made the game. I expected Scott to just off the game because I screwed up and it would of been my fault for not getting things straight, but he didn't, he made a game that is a lot tougher for him than a race to 100 9 ball. I for one cant wait to see these guys get in action.
