TAR - Darren Appleton vs Scott Frost (8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball for 15 000 $)

I was told that Appletonv Frost line is -150 Appleton with a European book. Granted thats a European book, similar I would think to what kind of line I get betting the Dolphins or the Hurricanes locally here in Miami. 3/2 odds is tough action, but if the line was 3/2 I wonder how many of the Appleton supporters would be willing to step up.

Legend,
I will bet you $20 I take the Freezer. I guess the format is 2 out of three, so my bet would be $20 on whoever wins the 2 out of three. Are you all talk or what?

You guys had better make sure who you are betting with. You should at least use the person's screen name.

Corvette1340 has "THE LEGEND" UNDER HIS AVATAR.

IBA has The Legend on his T Shirt.

And I have it tattooed on a private part of my body.
Well, it actually reads, "THE LEGEND LIVES ON IN SMORGASS BORED'S MIND"

I heard last night (from a good source) that the original game was supposed to be a race to 100 9 ball but Appleton got scared and backed out because someone told him he couldn't win. That is how the format that they are playing now came about.

I was in the middle of the discussion and as can happen when these things are in the early stages there were some misunderstandings or mis communications. This game was made in chat rooms and over email. I havent talked to Darren once on the phone.

I thought that Darren had agreed to play 9 ball, he thought he said 8 ball. When we figured out what happened (that we were not on the same page) I went back to Scott and told him what happened. Instead of just walking away Scott was willing to work something out and Darren was willing to come off the 8 ball only set. Both guys are monsters and both guys came off of a game many consider a big advantage for one or the other and are playing a format neither have tried before.

Making these games is not an exact science. People get things crossed up in the beginning or change their minds. Just like in any negotiation. The main thing is both guys took a tough game. No whining they just made the game. I expected Scott to just off the game because I screwed up and it would of been my fault for not getting things straight, but he didn't, he made a game that is a lot tougher for him than a race to 100 9 ball. I for one cant wait to see these guys get in action.

Now you know how he won the action award at the DCC a couple years ago...

I think he has a history of taking tough action...I don't think anyone can accuse him of having any fear in that regard.

He walked into a room one that had some farily decent one pocket players sitting around and said he would play anyone in the room straight up 1-pocket and he would put up $100 against $20 per game.......just becuase he wanted to play...

He is supposed to win alot of games but if you are any kind of 1-pocket player you almost have to take a shot at those odds.

I bet both The Legend (IBA) and Uwate. $20 each. Again, as I understand it, they are playing 3 types of games, so the winner would be the one who wins 2 of the 3. So I've got $40 total riding. That's my total budget. May the best man win!

Confirmed. Thanks for the action

So its Harriman v Schmidt the first weekend of May. Appleton v Frost the second weekend. Chicken wing v the asian sensation OMGWTF sometime during the 2 week of May and maybe SVB vs Alex or ???Vs Bergman? You TAR guys are gonna be exhausted by June.

damn I better get a cushion for my computer chair. Gonna be alot of sitting in front of the 'puter. Might even have to skip surfing Ebay and online pron in early May. <shudder>

we should start an action thread for the Harriman v Schmidt match. Thats first up. Not to derail this thread but you cant have an Action Report match unless the rail is in action!

I will take John just like last time. Maybe someone will take a combo pack and I'll take John/Darren and give up Harriman/Frost.

Woah Woah - How, when, why was it ever discussed that Bergman would play SVB? I can tell you that WILL NOT happen & has never been discussed. Unless SVB wants to give up the last 4 as he did in Olathe.

Uwate - you seem like a decent guy but don't understand where that statement came from.

This internet is good for communication but sometimes I don't know where info comes from. JCIN - since the Young Guns challenge, I have heard:

Justin got paid $10K just for showing up. (TAR where is the $$$)

Justin won a car (He is not the world's greatest driver so I hope it is not a sports car that he should be expecting)

The total bet on this match by us was $80K (please don't let the IRS know - they probably would want their share of that).

Also, Justin was seen in Seattle last Thursday (when he was with me all night in STL).

No Watchez, I don't think Bergman is going to play SVB. I was referring to JCIN saying that he had another opponent ready for Justin and that he was going to PM you. I just didnt type that out right i guess.

Phew - I thought maybe the kid lost his mind....and soon after that, his bankroll.

Justin has an offer for the next match but we are going to wait until after (or maybe during) Vegas to confirm on our end. Justin might be doing some traveling after Vegas and I also know he is interested in playing in the Seminole tribe tournaments over the summer (they are great added $$$ events). Hopefully we can work something out.

Nothing is better (in pool) than a TAR event.

I was actually surprised when I heard of this format, because I remember I asked Darren right after DCC if he was considering to play for example SVB 8-ball race to 100, and then he replied that he worked with a race to 100 8-ball against Scott Frost.

So I don't think Darren has "chickened" out from a 9-ball match, because I think he has thought it was a long race of 8-ball all the way.

Just to keep me in the game

Looking over the sweat bets post it seems like every one wants Appleton. So do I. But I will make a sweat bet with friends who I have bet with in the past. iba, roy, uwate, etc. I want Darren but if you want Darren I will make a small sweat bet on the 9 ball portion of the match only and take Scott. Im staying away from 8 ball against Darren. Paypal only.
I also like John Schmidt. Did someone start a bet thread for that?

Appleton is the favorite here, especially in 8ball.

I dont think there will be much action even up on this match. Just very small sweat bets.

What do people think is the line that will get action going? Obviously if someone wanted Frost even there is a long line of people wanting to get down.

I make the line 7/5 on the overall match. I dunno though...this might be closer to 6.5/5 (+130)

Im open to discussion. PM me if you dont want to discuss on here.
