TAR Podcast is back this Thursday 9PM Eastern/ 6PM Pacific

American Rotation

Like to hear how things are going with it. With all the Casino based regional tournaments for amatuer players going on here in the upper midwest I would like to see American Rotation as a part of this circuit. Any thoughts?

TAR podcast at 6 PM PST tonight

Just a bump to see if there are any more suggestions for topics.
There is a lot of stuff to talk about.

Post up and we'll see if we can touch on it.

I thought this thread was worth a bump since the podcast is scheduled to be tonight. I'll throw in another possible topic also to keep this thread on point: What are some of TAR's plans for 2014? More all arounds? Long race 10 ball? Other?

Edit: Ha I just noticed Mark bumped this thread as I was typing mine. Sorry for the double bump.

Any news about the new global pool league that Mike Sigel is starting? Thoughts about the million dollar prize fund in their first year.

Looking forward to tonights show

Dress Code

Could you discuss dress code and more specifically requiring players to at least wear collared shirts, slacks or dockers, and comfortable casual shoes other than sneakers. I think it would help the sports image. I equate it to this example:

A youth is very interested in playing pool and wants their parent(s) to allow him/her to pursue the sport. They go to a local regional tournament and the players are dressed like I stated above and act like professionals. The parents are impressed and allow the youth to continue in their love of pool.

Scenario 2: They go to the tournament and the players are in shabby jeans, long T-Shirts, sneakers and have ear buds and are generally acting less than professional. The parent does not feel comfortable with their child being in these surroundings and does not support their childs budding love of pool.

Would like TAR and the4 players perspective!

Thanks

Rocky Mt. HIGH

... any plans to relocate CSI Events to Colorado!.... might help attendance AND open up your options on what Vendors to invite ! ...

:grin-square:

I was just enjoying my latest copy of Billiards Digest received today. I noticed the event flyer for the 21st Annual U.S. Bar Table Championships. I couldn't help but notice that there is no U.S. Open One-Pocket announcement.

I'm sure you plan on discussing the future of the U.S.Open Events. Please discuss.

Also, could you remind us if there are spectating fees at the U.S. Bar Table Championship!

I vaguely remember Justin talking about an all you can eat sushi restaurant. Are there any other good food options at the Grand Sierra?

I also would like to know about the poll results concerning Make What You Take or Open. It seems to me that having your choice makes it that much easier to Break and Run for the pros. So if Break and Runs are your thing then enjoy. I certainly enjoy watching runs. But, I noticed that it's open in BCA Pool Leagues; whereas, in the APA it's only open if both a stripe and solid is pocketed. It seems that making it open would be a good idea when it comes to amateur league pool. I sincerely doubt that the top pros Break and Run rate would diminish that much if they take what they make. Curious minds would like to know.

Damn, just when I hear M. Griffin say Green Hornet, the Ustream ad comes up. That will be the end of that. Time for an upgrade, I know I can avoid those for cheap. Will do so in the future. Thanks for doing another podcast. I hope to catch a replay of tonight's podcast perhaps tomorrow.

.. does anyone else need an antidepressant after listening to this one?... :help::crying:

Just telling it like it is. Pro pool in the US is on life support. There are no leaders in the industry and historically the people who step up to try and lead just make things worse.

I have invested the last almost seven years of my life in this game. When you see no growth of an entire industry over that time frame it probably means shit is not good. The only thing that has happened is there are more people trying to get the dwindling money available.

The only positive thing I see about the current situation is that it is so bad it may be possible for someone to come in and change how things are done without spending a ton of money. But even then you still face the problem of trying to sell a product no one wants to buy.

The problem with pool is that anyone can start a league or tourney and do what ever they want, follow any rules they want, have any size pockets you want pool needs to be standardized to the same like in all other games even if someone steps up and tries to lead pool into the right direction people can choose not to follow if they don't like them and run some rinky dinky tournament. We are all sheep without a Shepard or fence.

WATCH IT. REWIND. REPLAY. LISTEN....

i can't even comment now - i need a shot of whiskey!

thank you Mark.
thank you Justin.
omg.

I watched it today. I actually thought it was very good as always. I didn't find it depressing as much as realistic. I'm really looking forward to next week's podcast with Daz. The last podcast he did where he was in studio with Ronnie Alcano and Jayson Shaw was money.

After a longer than planned layoff for numerous reasons we are back this Thursday with TAR Podcast #46. Mark Griffin and I will go over our thoughts on the year in pool 2013, discuss some future things coming up this year and break down TAR 38 Appleton vs Orcollo.

Personally I think 2013 was a year that will be looked back upon as a watershed moment. Somethings we had last year will never be again. This could be a good or bad thing. I have my thoughts and I know Mark does. We will get into all of it Thursday.

If you have any topics or comments you think we should talk about please post up. We hope everyone will check it out.

That was a VERY interesting and informative podcast. Thank you TAR gents for being as forthright as you can be! And thanks for leaving us with more questions than answers. ;)

2014 is a hair pin turn for pro pool. Fingers are crossed there's tread on the tires. Best of rolls.

Maybe someone should try out pool as a game show on stream, and later on TV with prizes viewers and or the audience can win. Could be either 8 ball, 9 ball or a short 14.1 game.

Take a look at the stats from match ups that two members put on here after TAR matches and such. There could be a prize for how many B&R's, how many total balls run by both players, and so on. The prizes should not be pool related unless you can get a sponsor to give away a Diamond or Brunswick table each week . I think the prizes should be the next big thing...like an XBOX when it was hot. Just about anything that cost a little more than the average Joe can afford to buy, but would love one for free. Just tossing stuff around as usual. Johnnyt
