TAR: Watch Orcollo vs Morra from the CSI US Open Ten Ball Free

How do you reload?

Super rez and great cam work!

Question: towards the end of the match my video got behind the audio. I did not see a "reload button" so I clicked on my refresh. That put me back to the beginning. I could not find a way to scroll forward on this vimeo until the scroll bar slowly creeped to the right and "loaded", which takes a long time.

Would there have been a better way to catch up my vid to audio? Or is this a drawback to the Vimeo software?

Thanks for sharing Justin. Again, awesome awesome production.

Some people wanted me to post an example of our US Open Ten Ball coverage form this May. I have put up a match between Dennis Orcollo and John Morra in its entirety.

The match is an example of what IMO is the best production we have ever done. It has Nathan DuMoulin and Eric Shepard of runoutmedia.com running the cameras, Andrew Cleary and myself doing commentary and running the switcher.

It is a look at what is possible with some manpower and a very little bit of lighting.

Here is the link to sweat it for free if you like: http://vimeo.com/13892476

Is it possible to auto-tune our voices? The match would be much better!

Wow, nice job Justin & Runout Media! The video/camera work, imo, is a broadcast quality production. Really well done.

Hey, sounds like you guys were having fun. If it comes around, I'd love to sit in with you guys somewhere, down the road.

Mine did the same thing and for a few minutes I thought they were talking about a match on another table. Especially when one of them said something about getting behind the 9-ball and then forfeiting the game. It must have been 3 or 4 shots later when that did happen.

This video was a test of a new program I am trying for compression for the web. The video is then re-compressed by the host. Somewhere along the line it looks like a sync issue has developed. I will look and see if it is due to the initial compression or the processing the host does.

Edit: I checked the source file after the initial compression and there is no sync issue with it so this tells me the problem comes in after Vimeo processes the video. Not an uncommon thing when posting long videos to the web. As far as skipping ahead in the Vimeo vid I am able to just click in the timeline and the video starts from where ever I place the play head. That is using Google Chrome. Your browser or version of Flash may be the issue with why it doesnt work for you.

Either way, thanks for posting this.

I was so busy operating the camera at the time that I never got to enjoy the actual match. Not only do I not remember the games, but I didn't even know who won until I watched this. :p

Speaking of which, other than the horribly dark lighting and a few slip ups, this was pretty good for day one. I'm very eager to see the finals to see how much we improved over the course of the event.

Some of the angles you got were absolutely fabulous. On one shot, after a Dennis break, it looked like Dennis was hooked on the 2, and you got down and behind. We saw he had a whole whopping millimeter or so of clearance to make it in the right side pocket. And that lil monster ran the heck out. You just don't get that kind of camera work very often at all. Kudos!

Nathan, were you on a joystick manipulating the camera? If so, I need weight playing Pacman against ya! :grin-square:

Justin, thanks for elaborating on the compression and browser affects. BTW, the sync issue occurred @ the 47+ minute mark and it jumped a good minute. It did not line back up after I started over and went back to it.

Thanks for the free video, Justin. Can't wait to get home from work so I can watch it.

Good eye. I missed the foul on the 6. Saw it on the rerun. Bad on him for not calling if they were playing all fouls.

They were not. The tournament was played cue ball fouls only. Still, Morra should have the option to return the ball to it's original position. I'm guessing either he didn't see the 6 ball move (even though his chair was in an excellent position to watch the shot) or he didn't care if the 6 was moved back or not. Obviously he was going for a short rack win there anyway. However, the 5 ball moves into the space originally occupied by the 6 ball which would have made it a foul anyway, and therefore given Morra BIH. In which case he wouldn't have needed to shoot the carom to begin with.

What was interesting to me was that right after the discussion with the official about the not calling the carom shot, Morra steps up and proceeds to apparently NOT call a combo on the 10 ball. At least I never saw him look towards Orcullo, point to the pocket or make any other noticeable gesture to indicate he was calling a combo. Yeah, maybe it was obvious but maybe not. Dennis could have thought the one passed to the corner. And given they just had the ref over for a similar situation it surprised me the combo wasn't more clearly called.

thanks for the match

Justin:

Don't know if this will help, but just before the video/audio de-sinced for me, Dennis O. did the same thing twice between games 9 & 10.

thnx for the vid JCIN!.....every time I watch Dennis I am impressed by his composure.....the times I have talked with him he is funny, and full of energy!

Keep up the GREAT work at TAR......the production was super and anything new to watch for us pool junkies is always appreciated.

Whats up with Bartrasm raining on the parade?.....maybe 10 dime matches don't happen monthly, BUT.....with a little thought, interesting coverage of matches streamed with quality commentary will always have a market IMO!

Vegas>>>>

Big Dog...... Thanks for posting this up, I literally felt like I was back in Vegas while I was watching this...... I wish I was at the circle bar right now waiting 20 mins for a $6 beer served by a 70 year old man bartender....... Keep them coming ....I can't wait to see what it looked when I grabbed a camera and the switcher....... Keep in touch.
