Given the current economic environment I would have to vote for saving it for now. At least until things pick up unless you are certain that your job is safe.

Assuming that you are confident that your job is safe and you are totally debt free I would go for the table. Nothing beats having a table at home that you play on at any time.
 
I say Lasik. Gotta be able to see the table in order to play on it, lol.

Given that you wear glasses or contacts, a table would be a good choice. But Lasik will solve any wear and tear you put on your eyes over a 2-3 day tournament. Making you able to endure many more hours of pool...and still see clearly.
 
Lasik all the way. Its the best 5200 I've ever spent. Got it July 08 and been loving it ever since. Spending money on your health is not money spent... jmo
 
Eye Sight

Well you being a poolplayer I'd check into this new thing called "Gentle Molding", I recently saw the info-mercial on TV and thought it would be the nuts for poolplayers!

It's been around for 40 yrs. but recently there has been a great advancement, what it does is reshape your eye without surgery, it's like a contact lens that you wear at night during your sleep and it remolds your eye ball, some wear it nightly, some only once a week , but they get 20/20 vision back.You only wear them at night while sleeping and take them out during the day.

From what all I gathered it's over 90% effective for all age people being farsighted,nearsighted, and having stigmatizms.

Seems like a poolplayers Heaven to me, I know I'm going to check it out further.There's not many places in the USA doing this but here's a web link:

It still costs between $2800 and $4100, depending on prescription...It's unfortunate that this seems to be the only Optometrist that offers this kind of treatment. It's a shame to have to go to Arkansas just to have treatment. It's not practical unless you live there.
 
I love having my own table, but my Lasik surgery was practically life-changing- being able to dump the contact lenses after twenty years was amazing.:thumbup:
 
a botched table installation can be fixed pretty easily.

Botched Lasik is a nightmare..

LASIK for sure. You can't put a value on something like your eyesight. If Efren did it, you can bet it's money well spent.

Not everyone will agree but having a table at home isn't always what it's cracked up to be. If you enjoy the social aspect of pool, the competition, the jukebox/bar/food, and staring at chick's asses (which you can see better with lasik) then you'll want to be at your local pool hall anyway, rather than banging 'em in your basement.

I had the procedure in 2003 and it's absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself. Do it! :thumbup:
 
I had Lasik done at least 8 years ago, cost was $2400 at the time. I also have a pool table and love it.

Verdict: Lasik, then save for a table.

Your vision is priceless. Used tables are inexpensive. Look for a deal. I sold an Olhausen 9 footer for $700 - table was perfect.

Even though I did them opposite than the way that I voted, I voted Table First... then Lasik.

Had both eyes done in 1999 at a total cost of only $950... up in Vancouver, BC before the procedure was approved here in WA state... went from 20/400 and 20/200 with a bad astigmatism to 20/20 overall so I am very glad that I had it done. Had been wearing glasses for more than 30 years at the time. Still see 20/20 and I'm now 60 y/o. ;)

Bought my 9' Diamond Pro Am last year... and am absolutely happy with that purchase as well. Who needs to park in a garage anyway?

 
Personally if I were getting a tax return it would be lasik, I have had these irritating goggles on my face for 28 years, they suck!

I can only imagine what life without glasses is like, being able to see the table without distortion, right now when I am over a shot I am blind since I am looking over the top of my glasses, I literally shoot every shot looking at a giant blur.

I've never had eye issues,but if I did and lasik would fixem,that would be priority one.

Table at home is pretty cool....I gots one...but its only cool when you use it. Your eyes will get used a lot more ;).

Eyes,then table imo.
