With the New Year alittle over a week away and I am stunned that it is 2009,seems very unreal.I consider myself quite a thinker and reflect quite a bit about things and life.I was hoping members could share what they have done that they are proud of,it can be pool related or not and can be in the past year or yesteryear.I will start it off and please list only one thing thing you are proud of and to keep it simple limit it to one paragraph. ;)

I am very happy to bring live pool to the masses and see more and more people tuning in.The support by the members has made me feel very good about what I am doing for the sport, very proud about it also. The people I have met are very good people for the most part and love the game as I do.This past year has been really good and I look forward to the next year and what it will bring.

I am proud of my wife who is the best person in the world. She is bravely carrying our child and will be an awesome mother. I couldn't do what she appears to be handling with ease.

In pool - I am really proud of my staff for stepping up to be able to build the sort of cue cases I have in my mind but not the patience to to myself.

For myself - I am proud of being so level headed and nice on this forum this past year..............................

ooops - - -- - - that's a resolution for next year. Can I get an over/under on how long it lasts. :-)

Good ones John and I am on the same page with you on the wife, mine is due in May and its amazing how she is such a tough cookie. Its been 7 years since she last was carrying so we are better prepared this time but its still exciting!

I too, am proud of my wife. She is going to school full time while raising 3 kids ranging from 10 - 3, while putting up with me and my crazy work schedule. We will be celebrating 12 years on 1/17.

As far as pool for me, it has been an up and down year, but I've had steady improvement throughout the year. I have tried to surround myself with better players as well as practice and read as much as possible. Prior to "going on the shelf" for a long overdo shoulder surgery on 12/4, I was on an 18 game winning streak in our local VNEA league, which is tied for 1st. Our team is currently 3rd out of 32.

All the best to everyone this holiday season!!

I'm pround of me! I didnt gamble all the Christmas money away and now the kids can have a good Christmas. j/k

Well -

When I came into town, I started playing a guy. Pretty sporty player, and was pretty respected as good player.

He later confessed that when I first started playing him, he didnt like playing me because it wasnt really good competition for him.

Now that I moved and come back into town I play him and beat him pretty consistantly.

Just another rung on the ladder. But this guy I learned alot of shots from, he is a big fan of not letting the cue ball loose and keeping it simple. I think this is the old time player of playing for dough verses playing for show.

I am proud of beating him, and he is a great guy that I am still learning from.

Hell, I'd be glad to show you something I'm proud of. But first, all of the people in the front two rows need to move back some.

I too am proud of the live streaming that I have done over the past few months and the support we have received from so many viewers. With so many live stream available now and often on the same weekends the number of viewers still seems to be increasing, which leads me to belief that we are all helping to increase the interest in pool by giving it more exposure. Sadly the MPT is taking a break and that will limit what I have available to stream, but I do have a couple of events in early 09 that I am trying to set up.

Thanks Lenny for what you are doing and all the best to you in 09.

I would also have to go with the Wife and kids. Pool pales in comparison.
I like my dog too, when she eats corgi's, good Rottie.

A Z Billiards Main Forum

This may sound kind of peculiar but I am kind of fond of the identity that the Main Forum has taken on over the past few years. It has been a collective effort not only by the management but by the forum members themselves.

The willingness of members to step up to the plate and admonish posters who get out of line and to compliment others who have taken sides on important issues all help to mold what AZ Billiards has become.

AZ is kind of like a real family in that it is important to learn how to improve communication in order that you might have a more harmonious relationship with your relatives. If you cannot adapt, condone and even accept the minor failings of your immediate family, you have to move on and while I regret the loss of some of our past members; it was sometimes for the best.

So, while I am particularly proud of what AZ has become, I have to give accolades to all of the members because it is a forum effort and no one member defines AZ Billiards.

After all that, I can say I am very proud of my AZ Billiards Family.

Joey, I just teared up. I love you, man.

You know, in a brotherly way.

1) Married the greatest woman in the history of the human race.

2) Became a stellar father and teacher by learning everything NOT to do from the ones I had.

3) Wrote a pretty fair column and some books.

4) Designed my own cue. It's been done before, but I did this one to the nines and NOBODY is ever going to top my cue-designing percentage (1 for 1). GF

I am very proud of giving pool tips to my fellow team mates and watching them increase in skill level.

When a low skill level player has a winning season because of one pool tip, and you see that they are really having a lot of fun, winning. That's pretty cool.

Proud

You know I was going to write something and then read the other responses after which felt I should write about my pool related successes. But, I am just going to go forward with writing about the thing I have done that I am most proud of in my lifetime. This gets a little personal.

I married an alchoholic because I wanted to make my daughters life as best as it could be but after several years of being in an abusive relationship I left. During our seperation I was served with a protection from abuse order accusing me of sexually abusing my daughter which was totally unfounded. This was simply my ex trying to get back at me for leaving even though I was still paying the rent and bills at the apartment.

After several very strange events it became very obvious to me that if my daughter was to have any normalcy to her life I would have to attain custody of her. This process took a year and every scrap of money I had at the time. I had to hired an attorney to represent the best interests of my daughter. If you ever wonder how much of an uphill battle this was consider this. After hearing from my daughters mother that she thought she could practice witchcraft and cast spells the attorney said to me, "well that doesn't make her a bad mother".

When my daughter was nine I had full custody of her and I am very proud to say that through all the adversity in her young life she has graduated from college and is working in Boston for a large publishing company. I might not have been the perfect father and certainly was not a mother but I feel she made it. All the division championships and all the state championships all the individual tournaments the trips to Vegas nothing could make me more proud than my daughter and her success. My eyes were literally watering up as I wrote this

Happy Holidays everyone....

Nice thread!

I am proud that in May of 2008 my wife and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary. And, I survived buying and selling a house during a tough economic time. Of course we bought before we sold - that was the single most stressful thing I have ever gone through...but it's over.

Thanks to all those that provided steaming videos to distract me from my craziness.

As a single father of two fantastic girls, I respect your efforts. In today's economy, it's hard. Man, it's hard. I share custody and miss them every minute of the day. Keep at it my good man. Keep at it. I left a five bedroom, three bath, three cars in a great neighborhood. I did this so not to upset their schools and routines. I now am in a place half of the size and struggling with paying my ex. It is what it is.
