Texas Open Payouts???

I believe he is just copying and pasting the information from the main AZB post that has all the payouts listed and putting that in a spreadsheet to calculate the total. I was wondering myself the big difference in payout between 17th and 25th place, now it makes sense that its $180 and not $80.

I was wondering where that number came from. It IS a typo in the payouts on the main page. 25th-32nd paid $180. I should know, I gave Mike at AZB the info via email and I see now he posted it incorrectly (I went back and looked at the email I sent to double check the numbers).

Returning Champions: Al Mason, Chen, Gabe Owen, James Davis Sr., Jeremy Jones and Sylver Ochoa. Did I miss anyone? With them being exempt, that's $750 that didn't get added to the pot. Effectively 122 paid entries.

Interesting... I didn't realize their part of the entry ($100) wasn't added to the total purse. I just assumed that the house picked up the tab for paying their entries since they are exempt ... or is that not normal practice?

Here's the breakdown for the men's

100x122= 12,200.00 (6 free entries)

12200+3250= 15,450.00 (750.00 added to the ladies)

Total paid out = 15,450.00 mens

The payout from the side pot was posted at the event and all of us that were there viewed it there.

The players appreciate all the accountants looking out for them!! Could someone please figure up the door money and drinks and beer sales profit, so we can make sure Gary & Kevin did OK too! LOL.

Sorry to disappoint all the conspiracy people.

Lewis Jones & Paul Blank with PKL Promotion are some of the best out there! They have been running the Fast Eddies 9Ball tour for over 7 years here in Texas and have ignited pool here!!!

G-cues owners Gary & Kevin Welling are some of the best supporters of pool here in Texas!!!! Bar none! We are so lucky to have them!! They have worked each year to improve the event and next year will be no different.

Look forward to seeing everyone there!

That's right, 61 x 125 = 7,625. Silly me for not using a calculator on that one. Thanks for the correction. Somehow I still arrived at the "correct" amount for the payout, which is $14,650. The spreadsheet doesn't lie.

I did explain quite clearly that I'd taken the prize money figures from the info in post number 11, which results in the payout being $15,450.

It now transpires that the info in post 11 was correct so it is in fact $15,450 which is correct and not $14,650.

I'm not sure I'd ever describe a spreadsheet or computer as lying....but the accuracy of what comes out is almost wholly dependent on the accuracy of what goes in. You weren't to know that you had originally fed the wrong figures in of course, that's understood....though if you had read the content of post 11 at the time it was drawn to your attention in the context of totalling up the prize money it may have avoided the above repeated insistence on $14,650 being correct when it's not:)

I guess that's where the confusion is coming from. I did not realize that AZB made a typo. It didn't make sense to me why there would be a payout of $80. $180 seems logical. No conspiracy theories here Ray. Just trying to get an accurate account. I'm not worried about G Cue's bottom line. I'm concerned about the players, TD and support staff that made this event happen. I know with you and Lewis there that things are on the upside. We even have a watchdog in the UAE! Thank you all who posted results during the event. If the smoking ban is passed and enforced, I will be there next year.

Well, now that all the bean counting is complete AZ has learned that the owners of G-Cue Billiards are top notch and that Lewis and Paul are too. All the money was paid and nobody got screwed by a gaffy disqualification.

If this would have been a DP event, Shane would have been DQ'd for being too good a player. Gabe would have been DQ'd for being a known associate of Corey Deuel. Jeremy would have been DQ'd for being a known associate of Gabe, who knowingly associates with Corey. Lastly, I, as a spectator, would have been denied entry absent a $300 per day fee because of my known past and present association with Corey, Gabe and Jeremy.

In the end, Lewis (Ironman) and Paul deserve praise for their efforts and talent and G-Cue Billiards deserves praise for putting on a great, honest event. Congrats and thank you!!!

See you next year.

I don't know if the house puts in the money for the exempt entries, but it seems to me that they should. Thanks for the PM and don't be afraid of the forum trolls.

I think I can safely speak for Stones here and assure you that neither of us would ever consider workeing any event that would consider shady paractices. Have we made mistakes before? Yes we have and worked our butts off to correct them. It will always be that way.

Be furtherly assured that G-Cue has the very same attitude about this.

FWIW, this was the Texas Open"s 35th and not only is GQ proud to host this, they are working to make it even better. It is rich in tradition and growing. Will there be issues? of Course there will and they will be confronted.

Thanks to all for the great support.

For love of the game.

I don't see where anyone was making accusations of "shady business practices". The mistake was made on the AZB payout information as well as on my part for trusting them and not verifying with the source. As a result, questions were asked and answered satisfactorily. End of story as far as I am concerned.

Mike just fixed the payouts. :) Glad that was noticed so we could get 'em fixed.
